Honestly, I have Arachnaphobia and despite the simple graphics, that spider creeped me out. Cool game :)

Thanks!

Great job on the mushroom idea!  It definitely throws you off.  I wished the game had music and sound, but I played this with my 6 year old daughter and she created her own sounds:). He says that she loved the game because it was funny!  Also, we got excited about the treasure chest, but there was nothing in there:(. The game is a liar! https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476728

Thanks for taking the time to check out my game! Yeah I wish I could've put sound in... but I really have no clue when it comes to sound design. I had some sounds recorded.. but.. yeeaa. I wouldn't want to subject you to them. They were bad lol. The chests had 20 gold each in them.. but in all fairness, there's no way to spend that cash lol. Time constraints and all ;) The mushroom mechanic is what everyone seems to remember from this game haha. Anywyay, I appreciate the feedback. Cheers!

This took me sooo long to complete - the mushrooms were really disorientating! I loved the humour and thought the graphics were simple but suited the game just fine. Only thing was I wasn’t sure what the ‘poison’ was supposed to do? Great game otherwise!

Developer

Thanks for having a look at my game! The "poison" potions were actually more like perception potions. When the mushrooms disorient you, they also screw up your compass... the "poison" potions actually fix your compass to make it point the right way.

"Here lies Meneliki's career in game development" - It's totally right that this game is a lie, as you did something totally lovely! I really enjoyed graphics, mechanic with mashrooms and even though I didn't get to the exit I had a lot of fun. Thanks for creating it :3

Thank's so much! :)

Hi! :D Cool concept for the theme and good game design! The mushroom mechanic was really effective in dissorienting the player and contributed to the challenging aspect of the maze. Great job! :D

Hi mate! This is a well executed game, didn't find any issues while playing it. Your rotation mechanic is cool, too. The character is looking great :)

I've noted some points:

  • No audio, you could probably generate random noise to make some footsteps and sounds when collecting an item for example. Without sound a game feel quite empty.
  • I wanted to see more mechanics into the Maze like your mushrooms, doing different things to make me going crazy (change of the colors, inverted controls, darken place...). I think it can be annoying after playing a bit to not have different feedbacks from the collectibles.
  • I didn't like the water tiles. The other tiles are okay and consistent, but the water is looking way too different.

Thanks for this game btw, had good time playing it!

Developer

Hey! Thanks for the feedback! You're totally right about the audio. It does kill the game. I tried recording some footstep noises but they really didn't work out. Same thing with the music. Looking back, you're right I probably should've added "pickup" noises for the items. And yeah the water tiles were shit lol, i had a hard time making the water. Anyway, thanks for checking out the game!

I LOVE the mushroom mechanics. Nice tiles. Signs and graves are enjoying to read.
