  • Undertale meets Final Fantasy count me in! The narrative was charming and engaging; the cover art is beautiful; I love the game's concept (and Sharky is so cute); the menus are very complete and the inventory system was quite complex and complete; the enemy design is well done; the combat is well balanced and challenging. While the combat was very traditonal I like how many options you were able to include. I think the dungeon environements could have been a bit more fleshed out visually, and I think the menus were at times difficult to navigate (having to click on the section was unintuitive). I think the MP bar sometimes didn't reflect my mana and I was confused at what resource TP was meant to be. Overall this game was super complete and very well made, amazing work! --- Presentation is amazing, visuals and music all definitely give a cohesive feeling. The writing was very cute! I was also impressed by the amount of gameplay elements you were able to implement (UI menus, items, weapons, armor). Difficulty of the final boss seems very high; I would like to be able to retry without starting from the beginning. I thought left clicking to move was also a bit strange/inconvenient for this type of game. --- 31/40

Fun experience. I really like the art style. I like the vibe you were going for. The combat encounters being actual viruses were pretty funny.

I played this on my stream, so if you want to see directly how the player experiences this on the first playthrough you can message me on discord (Eric Sexton in CGJ Discord) and I can send a link.

I only have a few small back notes. You will have to excuse me as well, about the only jrpg style game I have played is pokemon and I don't know if that counts. It was kind of weird that sharky went through the main characters' legs, although I am pretty sure that is just an RPG maker placing a sprite that isn't the dimensions it thinks it should be. It's something small but finding a way to fix that would be nice. Next, at least in my experience, sharky dies really fast. I couldn't revive him which was really sad.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun. Thank you for a good sumbission.

I loved playing this game! The art style was really great, and I loved having a shark companion. I died before I was able to complete the game, but I love the subtle world-building elements you placed in the text here and there.  I had sharky die early on in my game, and it wasn't immediately apparent to me how to revive him. Once I got the reboot drive, I tried using that but that didn't seem to work.  It's rough having only one party member for some of the fights, so my only criticism is having some way or making it more obvious how to revive team members earlier on.

Great job!

I really like the aesthetic, and the art! Some of the enemies made me laugh - I love how the blocky guy looks.

The sprites are scaled a little too big for rpgmaker, rpgmaker doesn't really support that big of a sprite for the overworld. (I don't think)

I did get all the way to finding the sister, but then I forgot the heal before the battle and wiped. I tried using the reboot drive during the battle, but it never revived Lexy.

Also, the computer at the bottom of the map gives infinite reboot drives if you keep talking to it lol.

I really enjoyed the game - but when I wiped I didn't want to have to restart the entire game, so that stopped me from completing it.

But yeah! I really liked it. The artstyle is fantastic.
