Hi!
Jam Cultura Abierta starts today, November 16th, at 19:00. A bit before that, around 18:00, we'll have a talk (also available on streaming) about intellectual property rights. It'll be announced on our twitter account, unfortunately, it'll only be available in Spanish.
We've set up a Discord server (with an English channel)and our specialists in intellectual property rights will be available to answer your biggest doubts concerning public domain content.
Quick reminder, Project Gutenberg is probably the best place to search for public domain Spanish content. Keep in mind that you aren't limited to literature.
You can also choose one of these four sub-themes if you want an additional challenge during the jam. We will value participants using a sub-theme when it comes to setting up the exhibition.
- Intellectual property rights and the creative community: The game's narrative is about creators that benefit from respecting intellectual property rights.
- "Uncrackable games": Make a game that can't be cracked (pirated). It could be a physical game built around some specific conditions. Or maybe a game that only makes sense in a very specific context.
- Cross borders: Make a game that requires the help of others to share it around the world. You also need to write some documentation about how the game is going to be shared and the kind of license it's using.
- Extending limits: Somebody in your team is specialized in a discipline that isn't usually part of a gamedev team. Your game must show the experience of that person.
You can send us an email to gamejam@dev.org.es if you have any questions. Remember you need to upload the games before November 18th (at 19:00). We'll give you more details about the exhibition (that will contain all the games) before November ends.
Good luck!
