This is a retro Cosmic/Lovecraftian Horror inspired dungeon crawler that takes place in the Dreamlands mentioned in the work of H.P. Lovecraft. The location is the Vaults of Zinn, referenced in "The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath" which is inhabited by Ghouls, Ghasts, Gugs and other more horrible creatures.
The story is a kind of short fan-fiction about the main character, Randolph Carter, and the rift that formed between the cats and the zoogs.

I really like the art style and environments! Nice use of The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath too.
Interesting artstyle and fun premise. I had no trouble with the balance on the game, I think I encountered the proper combination of mobs and upgrades early on and it felt good to get powerful early. I accidentally left the dungeon early and only rescued half the cats, but I guess I should've seen it coming that the door leading to the OUTSIDE of the map would take me out, haha.
Overall, I really enjoyed this entry and I'll probably go back to make a max cats run once I play and rate more games. Clearly above average entry!
Much appreciated! I was actually worried about people accidently leaving "early" by accident. But I figured that would be something they would only have to learn once :) But maybe a different graphic for the exit door would be a good idea to add.
It's okay, it's still a win if you leave early! And, like you said, it's a mistake you won't do twice.
I limited the appearance of Gugs until the later areas. I think I should have limited Ghasts from appearing too soon also, that can really unbalance the early game...
Great atmosphere and nice art style, and seeing verticality in a dungeon crawler is always great.
Not sure if I like the bonk-based combat, but it works for this jam.
That said, the movement felt sticky, and after a while, the visuals started giving me eye strain. Also, I had trouble alt-tabbing out of the game to take notes.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I think I need to revisit the controls scheme in this (and in my other games too!) I have not quite mastered that aspect of the design yet. The stark colors can cause eye strain, so maybe I should consider a less fully monochromatic option, that provides the aesthetic in a somewhat softer way.
I think an option to mute the main color a little bit could go a long way.
Interesting art style of using just one colour, still looked great though. Nice and atmospheric which is always good. Nice work, enjoyed playing it.
