Tonight’s song, coming in at a firm four minutes, comes courtesy of the legendary Dave Matthews and his Band. A relic from my late childhood, this was featured on the Band’s sixth studio album, representing their relevance in the alternative rock resurgence of the mid-first-decade. To this night, I lose myself in the lush but delicate, cloud-like saxophone harmonies, suspended over Dave’s classic baritenor rasp and a rustic guitar riff. Whether the inspiration for the song came from a physical woman or simply a sublimation of Matthews’ Anima, the piece covers gorgeously and nostalgically the theme and feel of sleep, especially in such disarmingly honest phrases such as “I was feeling like a creep as I watched you (a)sleep”.

Post-scriptum: the Music Video for this song stars the captivating Julia Roberts, consolidating that the nineties were not dead yet as I grew up.
