The world's first VR Dungeon Crawler Game Jam has come to an end.
I would like to thank everyone who contributed by spreading the word, socializing on Discord and submitting a game. My primary goal with these jams is always to grow the community and to shed light on the classic dungeon crawler genre and hopefully reach new and old fans alike. I also think that the world needs more dungeon crawlers and hosting a game jam is a great way to make that happen :)
I was initially a little bit disappointed with the low number of submitted entries vs people who joined the jam. After giving it some thought I realize that it's a very niche genre on a (still) very niche platform. It's not only a narrow market but it's also considerably harder to develop for VR than desktop. Much harder than many would initially think. All this taken into consideration make me happy that we got 8 entries where some of them are really good and some show real potential.
As a host and judge I have the final say in the rankings but as it turns out the natural ranking from votes coincide with my personal ranking. Well, I have Alone in Space and Umber Pines at shared 1st position. Both are really great and both deserve to win, but I will let the votes decide the outcome.
A big congrats to the winner, but also much love to all the other devs.
Thank you, and see you in the next dungeon crawler jam :)
Keep calm and crawl dungeons.
