I really enjoyed this one. I just wish there were some more different pathways (I know there was no time). Love the appreciation for Lovecraft, the writing style, the imagery, and the story.

Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. (Nice to see others appreciate Lovecraft’s work here too :D )

I’d like to go back when I have some time after the comp is finished and branch the narrative a bit more, especially as it sounds like a few people might be interested. (Unfortunately ran out of time to do this for the short petite mort time limit as you suspected.)

I also love Lovecraft, and there’s something cool about how a lot of his stories were about people becoming obsessed and haunted by old manuscripts, and your game is an example of you being “haunted” in a way by his old stories.

There are some really nice descriptions in here (I won’t quote them to avoid spoilers), worthy of Lovecraft.

I played it a couple of times, and noticed when parts of the text and/or the stat table changed, but I would’ve loved to see stronger differences result from the choices. That’s how the petite mort goes, though. This was my first time, and I learned that lesson the hard way.

But this was very cool, and I appreciate the terror of the situation, and the Lovecraftian direction (in a literal and figurative sense) it takes.

I’d written something more specific above, but am changing it to avoid spoilers, sorry.

Well done!

Thanks so much Zac! Appreciate your nice comments on my game :D

Yes I’d like to branch the narrative a bit more than is there presently to give more of the choices greater weight, but was restricted by how much I could fit into the petite mort time limit as you suspected. I may go back later and play around with it some more though after the comp as I had fun writing this one.

An excellent example of cosmic horror. Sinking, falling, descending into madness. I loved some of the choices in this one: "panic." "Panic?!" "Panic???".

No notes, just happy to have experienced it. This is exactly what a petite mort entry should feel like to me: well-written, short, and perfectly spooky.

Thanks for sharing!
