It's always better to bounce ideas off each other, let's all share our progress on different things we've done for the jam!

I got my theme ready, and now I’m working on the visual assets. Gonna have pixel art and then 2D art for simple dialogue. To start, my farming game takes place at a vineyard, so you grow grapes for wine (that’s the main crop and the main export), if possible the game demo will last one week ingame time. The twist? Can’t reveal it yet, but there’s more than one way to age grapes into wine.

Awesome! I Can't wait to throw out the mystery requirements! There will be 6 to choose from, and you have to select 2! :)

oh! When do those get found out ? And is the jam deadline going to extend to accomodate that?

Read over the post again :) The mystery Requirement is only revealed the night before for *most* gamejams. It's to prevent people from starting early ;) Usually people do standard setup like you are doing, though.

ohh. Sorry never did a jam before so wasn’t sure, but ok that’s fine, I’m just doing assets like pixel art items and characters

Very Excited to see your work!

I’ll most likely post it in the art section in the discord. I’m excited for the jam, it’ll be the first one I participate in

Am thinking of doing something more fantasy than the usual farm and farmer, hopefully it will be fun^^ (also the discord invite doesnt seem to work)

fixed! :)

Also, Fantasy Themed you say? Medieval, or Like, Fantasy Fantasy?

Fantasy fantasy. I have an idea of using a fantasy dungeon instead of a farm. You'll still gather/farm/fish and craft, but instead of making your farm and town bigger (imagine stardew valley), you'll make your own fantasy dungeon. Imagine having slimes instead of chickens, or a golem instead of a horse, or instead of villagers you have skeletons/orcs/other creatures, and by crafting and selling the produce you make, you can make your dungeon bigger. All in a fun and comedy way. (Hope that by changing the setting am still within the rules)

That's an idea! Dang! I can't wait to play it on youtube ;)

I think I'm going to try and do something like Shepperd's Crossing. STILL One of my favorites!

Im trying decide if I have enough time. I might look for a partner. I started some tiles to see if it would work, and I think it would. My theme is horror. Like some gross farming stuff inspired by little shop of horrors. Im thinking of calling it "Feed the Harvest".  I dont wanna give away too much because it might spoil the fun but im thinking cute by day with creepy feelings occasionally, and gross by night with sacrifice and junk. Using green tone colors during the day and blue tones at night. Then maybe red tones on the last night.

I usually dont finish jams I enter because of time but I also usually only enter really short jams.  Usually my eyes are bigger than my stomach when it comes to jams.

keep it down to a single map or two, and halve your scope! I'd love to see that idea!

Good thinking!

i started yesterday copy pasted lot of my own stuff, now i have something vaguely tangentially related to farming (farms have plants that need bees sometimes right?) http://matland.be/farmgame2/

... and it is now somewhat finished and submitted! also i made a gitlab page for it https://gitlab.com/netman69/pollin8r
