Played your game, and it was really nice! That said:

  • I think the song selection could also use a difficulty rating, so that players can work their way up, rather than immediately being crushed by the harder songs (like me xD)

  • The way the game fits the theme, it would be nice to have a visual or audio feedback after hitting the notes perfectly, or if they’re hit with delays (pun intended)

  • Lastly, I had difficulties in using the song editor to play some custom music and feel that

      1. Calculating the BPM of a song manually can be a hassle sometimes, so a way to calculate BPM automatically when you select your song would make things easier for the user.

      2. I had no idea what the beat offset field did (and found out what it did sometime later xD), so documentation on what that does in the song editor would be better for players wanting to play custom songs in your game.

Those are my 2 cents. Other than that, amazing music, great gameplay, awesome game.

I  really enjoyed this game. While I found the gameplay exceedingly difficult, I still enjoyed myself. The music is absolutely incredible, and by itself makes the game a good experience. If you improved the graphics, and maybe added a theme/story, this game would be complete.

Overall, a 7/10.

Hey, thanks for playing!

I can confirm, I kinda suck at this game  🤣 but it's a fun time for sure.

I'm glad that you like the music! It's definitely some of my better compositions thus far, and I'm pretty happy with the ones presented in-game.

Ah yeah, graphics....I think you can tell this game feels a little bit unfinished 😅 I had some plans, but they got dashed away very quickly when I spent half the time making the song editor! Missed opportunity, honestly. And as for a story and theme that would be very nice to add as well.

All in all, thanks for checking it out!

Really cool!

Few suggestions:

  1. It'd be nice if those notes show the direction of the arrow that is to be pressed, because I'm constantly unconsciously trying to guess what key they go to by looking at their shape itself, rather than the x position
  2. Some sort of visual + audio feedback that you actually got the key right, perhaps something on the note itself rather than at some corner of the seen (like the "Perfect" popup that shows up)

Thanks for trying it out!

1. I was thinking about better ways to show the notes honestly 😅 just didn't really have time to bother with it. I'll definitely have to improve it at a later time.

2. Oh yeah, I've gotten this recommendation before XD I agree it'd be very nice to have better feedback -- I know what I'm working on post-jam hahaha
