This project was all about finally starting to learn how to use gamemaker. el Volcan is the result of a lot of reading and following various tutorials to learn my way around, and familiarize myself with a few different tools for designing all my own artwork and music for the game. Now I have the knowledge to Finally get on to building the game I always wanted to make!

Getting Over It reimagined as a 2D platformer? At least that's how I felt every time I had to start over or got shot back to the beginning. Haha... Definitely a fun idea that I can tell a lot of thought went into. And also frustrating as hell! :)
I enjoyed this. I was laughing at all the ways I died. In level 3 I think it was I hit a little lava ball over a lava pit and it didn't kill me it just sort of knocked me back, but I landed and was just kind of stuck, unable to move or progress any further. Lots of fun though. I particularly liked the rope swing (I wasn't expecting that).
This game surprised me with some great level designs. Lots of fun mechanics too! Like the swinging, and the spike holes, the bees dropping, the bats flying, and the spiders with their Half-Life 2 style webs. The second level reminded me of Pitfall for the Atari. The music was good, reminded me of games I used to play on my grandma's MS-DOS computer with their simple looping tracks. Played through three times to try and get the good ending but apparently dying only three times still isn't good enough. The lava part was frustrating because it's impossible to beat on the first try. You have to die and have the lava restart to have enough time for the two long horizontal bits. I had perfect health until that area. Although if you can beat it then it's just me haha. Great job, and I'd like to see you get some proper art to match your game, the cover put me off for a while. If you designed levels and had an artist team up with you, you could make some really fun games. Good luck, and congrats on "finally finishing something." :)
hi thank you very much for the feedback. It has been hard to gauge the fine line between a game being intentionally difficult and just plain frustrating but that's why player feedback is important! maybe a little unforgiving considering the lava chase mechanic may not be working quite right. will also check out your games!
Fun little platformer. I loved the death animations. Good variety in traversal like the swings, the jump pad thing. Also, the ending was quite unexpected. I did feel that the jump was a little bit slower though. Overall, Good job!
