The movement of planets was quite relaxing to watch while hearing the ambient music. I'm not sure I've found everything we can simulate with it. Object size didn't seem to change much in the gravity so maybe I did something wrong...

Thanks for simulating ^^

Currently there are just those 6/7 systems for you to simulate. Additionally you can play around with the 'j'-key (adds random planets). I'm gonna add an in-sim editor and stuff later.

Btw: the object size is just for increased visibillity...

Projects like this are a favorite of mine! Its great how you made it not only a for viewing movements, but also an aesthetically-appealing one. The music is a very fitting addition haha I agree with what others have said about a tutorial. It could help out a lot.

I'll be eagerly awaiting the updates to this project!

Developer

Thanks :)

I'll try to update it in a few days

Your solar system simulation is really cool!  It was fun to watch the planets move slowly while listening to the music :)

I'd love to play and rate this game but my laptop is from 2016 and it takes a while for it to load or respond to inputs, when it finally does it keeps freezing. Looks incredible but I'm going to forgo rating at this time.

Developer

Nevertheless, thanks for the feedback ^^

If you haven't removed it yet, it might be very helpful if you could send me some values: the framerate with and without orbits and whether you have the 64-bit or 32-bit version.

Also, reducing the time intervals per second (bottom center arrows / scrolling) might solve or at least improve the problem.

I can re-download and do that. Where do I see the framerate within the game?

Developer

top right

On the 64 bit version:

The fps was extremely tiny on my screen for some reason.

From when I opened the game to when the "Sam Tech" logo appeared it was 50 seconds.

From when I opened the game to the main menu it was 2 minutes and 17 seconds.

It claimed I was getting a constant 25-32 fps but as soon as I tried to move the camera the entire thing began to glitch in and out of existence. I think this is why I thought I was getting low FPS last time.

The 32 bit version just refused to launch period.

Developer

Thank you very much for testing <3

I'm uploading an old version that should be stable. The 32bit applications don't seem to work at all :(

You were right about the Interstellar soundtrack going very well with it =D

The only observation I have is that, in the future, a quick in-game tutorial might improve the players' experience, especially given the features you seem to plan on adding to it ^^

I'll be looking forward to seeing where this project goes. I truly enjoy it! ❤

Developer

Thanks for the Feedback ^^

Adding some kind of tutorial is a great idea. Will try to add it later :)

Very cool! The music is really fitting. It might be cool if the size of the sun had an impact on the orbits of the other planets, but I don't know astrophysics so I don't know how hard that would be lol. I'd be interested to see if you add more!

Developer

I plan on giving you full access on each planets mass so you can change it mid-simulation but that could take a while. But you can do it manually by editing the files. If you're interested I could give you a crash-course on how to do that :)

And the size is not supposed to change the mass (thats the relevant thing) just improve visibility. But perhaps another button could change that too :D

interesting concept. and the j key was funny ^^

Biggest feedback would be to start out in free-move-camera instead of your standard camera. It was a bit akward to push buttons and nothing happens and it takes a while to find the camera-switch-buttons.

thanks for the feedback; already uploading the change :)
