How does your game interpret the theme?
In a story, that duck struggle because of his difference

The third level is hard because it is not simple to understand how the mechanic works that you don't lose speed by changing directions. It is also beatable by using the double jump glitch 😄. In the PC version the speed gaining does not work for me.

It is kind of random.

Developer

Do u have any ideas on how that jump can be random>? I mean jump is a fixed number. How is it possible that it increases sometimes

I named it random because the timing of hitting the spacebar second time is hard to get right.

Developer

Wow, dude, you’re good! Love this in-depth feedback. I think I will take that speed gain part off. Because it doesn’t feel right. THANKS!

Haha. I loved the wordplay there. Duck. Tape.

Yes, sometimes jumping was ignored (especially when taped up on the wall) but other than that, cool mechanics.

The biggest issue I had was with dialogue. It says "continue" yet I cannot click on it. So I pressed space, and my duck jumped and it messed up the text. Only afterwards I realized it is F to continue. That could've been said in the textbox too. Also some of the text went off screen.

Otherwise a beautiful game with nice colors and characters, and the flappy bird animations were great. :) I am unable to download actual executables from other people onto my game development machine, so I appreciate browsergames a lot! Thank you.

Developer

Accurate feedback, will definitely try to fix these issues before moving to something else

Thank you so much for checking on it

If you could check on my project, and give me some feedback about the mechanic that I applied.I would appreciate that so much

Things I like

Clever premise

Very polished presentation.

The start menu and sprites are all very nice.

The game explains its mechanics so its easy to figure out.

First two levels seemed like good tutorial introductions.

Potential Improvements

The controls seemed a bit glitchy for me. Some of my inputs (especially when jumping) seemed to be ignored. Are you checking for input during FixedUpdate?

We need more levels to finish up the epic plot!

Developer

Fixed update, exactly. Didn't realize that it causes the problem.

Appreciate your feedback, super useful.

I played it again some things I noticed.

  • There is a small typo in your tutorial text. It say "holing space" instead of "holding space" in one spot.
  • Going up and down to gain momentum is a bit counter-intuitive and I was never sure if I was doing it right.
    • A bigger issue is that this  is only explained once at the very start of the game, but you don't need it for the first or second level, so lots of players will forget about it before it comes up. You might want to save this tip for a latter level and then require the player to do it at the very start.
  • I couldn't beat the 3ed level despite a number of attempts.
    • Always resetting at the start of the level starts to get annoying after awhile, given how slow the character moves.

Well thanks for your time, it helps to improve as a game dev.
