Secrets is our theme this year and I'm sure you've all been thinking about how you'll work that in while you were eagerly awaiting the announcement of our secret ingredients and now the time has come!
Moonlight, wicked, drawn, artifice
Using two to four of our secret ingredients along with our theme create a tabletop roleplaying game for any number of players. If anyone is familiar with the history of the Game Chef competition you'll note that this year we are going back to the beginning with one theme, four ingredients, and tabletop RPGs only. As the competition hasn't been held in so many years it felt right to go back to the beginning. But what does that mean? What does creating a "qualifying game" mean?
At the end of the competition I will be reviewing all entries and releasing a few lists. The one most of you will be interested in will be the three I find "Of Note" which is as close as I want to come to declaring a winner. The second will be a list of all that "Qualify", they hit at least two ingredients, the theme, are roleplaying games, are designed to be played around a table, and they will convey their rules well enough that without other input it can be played. Then there may be a third list as well, of entries that don't qualify for some reason but that I personally find "Interesting".
As it has been from the very beginning, Game Chef is more about pushing past the feeling that you can't write a game and getting words on a page than it is about winning. Just do your best and make what you want. Good luck!
