Well done! Taking a look at the submissions now!

It's all about getting something done. Don't worry too much about polish, just write a game!

I hope everyone is doing well and putting the final touches on their games! We have this final weekend for everyone to finish and get their games submitted. I'm genuinely excited to see what people submit. Have a great weekend and let me know if you're having any last minute issues.

Now that the ingredients have been revealed and the clock is running, I'm curious to hear what people are thinking!

Secrets is our theme this year and I'm sure you've all been thinking about how you'll work that in while you were eagerly awaiting the announcement of our secret ingredients and now the time has come!

Moonlight, wicked, drawn, artifice

Using two to four of our secret ingredients along with our theme create a tabletop roleplaying game for any number of players. If anyone is familiar with the history of the Game Chef competition you'll note that this year we are going back to the beginning with one theme, four ingredients, and tabletop RPGs only. As the competition hasn't been held in so many years it felt right to go back to the beginning. But what does that mean? What does creating a "qualifying game" mean?

At the end of the competition I will be reviewing all entries and releasing a few lists. The one most of you will be interested in will be the three I find "Of Note" which is as close as I want to come to declaring a winner. The second will be a list of all that "Qualify", they hit at least two ingredients, the theme, are roleplaying games, are designed to be played around a table, and they will convey their rules well enough that without other input it can be played. Then there may be a third list as well, of entries that don't qualify for some reason but that I personally find "Interesting".

As it has been from the very beginning, Game Chef is more about pushing past the feeling that you can't write a game and getting words on a page than it is about winning. Just do your best and make what you want. Good luck!

I did use Chrome! But I did so on my phone for which there seems to be no support. A one button approach could be hold for higher jump/longer air time and press again for drop. Just a thought.

As you have no doubt noticed we are now under a week to go before the Secret Ingredients are announced and the jam begins. I am really excited to see what folks come up with this year! I have been putting out the word about Game Chef everywhere I can think of but I wanted to ask those of you who have joined already to reach out in the communities you're a part of and let people know about Game Chef. We already have a decent turnout but I would hate for folks who might be interested to miss the opportunity just because they didn't hear about it.

Thanks Everyone

A quiet apocalypse.

I had a great time laughing until I got to the end. Couldn't figure out the puzzle. Still, a really great entry. The soundtrack was absolutely spot on. I could have dealt with some more combat, especially groups and resistances to help the pirates feel a little more special but that's really more personal taste than anything.

Fun to play for a few min but even with the best armored vessel and trying to avoid fights and find another port I couldn't and then couldn't afford to keep playing.

Just wanted to say that this gave me so many nostalgic feels. You go have a problem with getting stuck on islands when you leave cities.
