Very nice, shared it on my game page, hope you don't mind. Animated buttons might be a slight improvement. Is it normal the bear responds quite slow to the controls? The timer doesn't seem to do anything, what's it's purpose?
Nice stylization. On this jam a lot of similar games and they are all good and addictive! I like it.
It was a cool twist to play as the bear. You really nailed down the feel. I know the laggy input may have been part of the feel as well but I think you could improve the gameplay with more responsive input!
Thanks!
Spot on! This was really well done.
Best of all, you captured two things I think other LCD entries in this jam haven't captured
1. The bleed from an active entity to the neighbouring cells (leakage current from old screens)
2. Laggy input XD
I'm glad you noticed the leakage effect! Thanks!
I admire how you managed the look and feel of those classics—almost forgot about them, thanks for bringing those memories back! You got me thrown back in time for sure 👍
Nice game. Totally agree with @gumballstudios: bear must be more responsive. Maybe it would be better if everything will tick only when bear is movin.
This was an interesting take on the old LCD games. I wish the bear was a bit more responsive. It would be nice if it moved when you pressed the key rather than being tied into the same timed process that moves the rabbits.
Yum ! Rabbits !
You may try to increase difficulty along with the score.
Yeah, that's a good suggestion. Thanks!
Really reminds the handheld games of the 1980's. I played a lot of them...
Great job!!!
Thanks!
Nailed the look
Thanks!
Just like a Tiger Electronics game. This is really well done. The gameplay is a bit boring, so I wouldn't play this for long unless I was a kid and it was the only game my grandparents had at their house and I had to stay at their house for 3 days in a row over Thanksgiving ; but that's what these old handheld games were like. I think, thematically, you have executed your aims wonderfully. Great work.
Thanks! The hardest part of developing this game was resisting the urge to 'fix' the clunky movement, smooth out the transitions, or add a lot of complexity to the game play.
