I was wondering if construct 2 is eligible for this.

i think every engine is good nowadays. It just depends on the person who is using it

I think yes, why not ?

I think he is asking because of this: "And of course, the use of open source software is encouraged." I was wondering myself of GMS2 because of this too. I'm not native speaking English so when I translate it correctly, I think it's not needed to use open source but it's welcome.

correct! you're free to use whatever engine you want, but preferrably you should use open source ones

thanks guys

Hi, i use to use PhaserJS framework to make games you can find it here http://phaser.io/ if you have questions you can ask them on the forum http://html5gamedevs.com

The cool info is that the image of Phaser is used in the logo of#GitHubGameOff

will construct 2 be alright for this****

Sorry just felt like I should correct it :P

If anyone is up for creating their own mini-engine for the jam - I'd really recommend checking out p5.js for JavaScript of Processing for Java - these frameworks really get most of the boilerplate stuff and complicated screen management away and lets you focus on the logic of your engine.

I'm probably either going to be using Godot Engine (https://godotengine.org/) or Adventure Game Studio (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/) depending on which idea I end up implementing (currently brainstorming/mind-mapping/etc, I've narrowed it down to three ideas). Both are open-source.
