My moonshot was coding this as well as doing design and art. I'm a visual designer and illustrator, so coding even in GML 1.4 is extremely time consuming and frustrating!
That said, I have a lot of fun making something that people can play.
Here I wanted to combine the classic beginner projects - asteroids, lunar lander, and helicopter - into one runner with puzzle elements. The idea was to stay ahead of the supernova - dodge asteroids in stage 1, approach the moon carefully in stage 2, and then make it through the maze in stage 3.
Unfortunately I'm not great at coding and I'd need a lot more time to do exactly what I wanted, but I feel like I got the bones here and I'm happy to have it play from start to finish.

Really fun game to play. Died multiple times to get used to controls. I guess the trust was too fast for the ship. Could not control it easily. Smooth gameplay with minimum graphics.
Was a fun game to play, and I ended up dying a lot in the first 2 rooms XD. Wish once I got to the moon there was a checkpoint for me so I didn't have to restart at the beginning, other then that was a pretty addicting die quick and try again game. Good Job!
The visual polish you've done is really nice, it looks super professional! The biggest issue for me was the restart cycle; if there was a way to restart with the keyboard I didn't find it, so having to switch from keyboard to mouse and back each time I died ("a lot", naturally) really killed any momentum. Otherwise, though, the game comes together well so good job!
Thank you!
To restart quicker, press enter 😉
I added it last minute as I was annoyed by the same thing.
Interesting mechanic! Had trouble getting used to it but over time I got the hang of it and started to make more progress. Maybe the difficulty curve could have been gentler early on. That way players have more time to get used to the controls before they have to start playing well.
Also liked the ship design and the asteroid explosion effects. Good work!
The controls took some getting used to but that was sorta the charm of the game for me. You can really see the core of the idea you had and fortunately it worked out.
Obviously the style is apparent in the game- love the colors and the contrast of yellow v. the blues and purples. I feel like the ship was a bit hard to control in the sense that the engines/pulses are relative to the ship rather than our perspective, so it was hard to orient myself in a split second- there's a lot of potential here, though! I think a combat system would also be super interesting given the foundation you've laid. c:
thank you! My first focus was coding in a semi-real way that you would fly in space and I'm glad that even though the sensitivity needs tweaking, people are enjoying the challenge of having no friction!
Nice graphics
