Is it compulsory to share the github repo?

Although its mentioned in the instructions that you must create a public repo on Github, its not perfectly clear to me if this is compulsory. If so, how much of the source code/files must be included in the repo to be eligible to participate?

Any answers would be great.

I can't speak to the hard requirements but that's sorta the spirit of the Jam I think. Being organized by Github and all. Collaboration and OSS.

Yeah, I get that. Its just that art and music aren't usually uploaded to github. So I just wanted confirm.

I gotcha.
So it says "the source code and any assets you’re able to share".

I suppose if art and music aren't able to be shared, that they can be skipped in the public repo. Just my reading.

Good luck!

Yeah, I have the same questions.
I get that GitHub is supporting this jam, but the actual submission process appears to be via itch.io.
So...why would a solo dev need a GitHub page? Are they disqualifying people without one? Are we expected to submit in two places at once?

Hi there - when you submit your entry you'll be prompted to enter the URL for the GitHub repository where you've shared the source code and assets. If you're using any paid assets / libraries that you're not permitted to share, you can omit that and just leave a note in the repository's README about that dependency.

So assets including the music/sfx (if made by yourself) must be attached to the repo as well?

Ideally, yes. Enough for someone to build the game from source themselves.

Okay. Cool. I just found out about Github LFS so I'll try my best.
