I'd love to play and rate the game, but unfortunately I was unable to figure out how the game works. I did click the GitHub link to play the game, but I still feel it is missing a more in depth tutorial. Could you please explain to me a bit more, how to play the game properly. Thanks.
Hi, you are the blue insects and you should kill all the humans. You have to first collect the butterflies which is the currency in the game. You do that by left clicking on the single insect you have from the beginning and then move that insect through the butterflies by right clicking somewhere on the map. When you have 10 butterflies you should buy the building, it will create more insects. Then you need to get more butterflies and to do that you need to shoot on the mines, which are the small gray lumps. Select many insects by dragging over the screen and right click on a mine, sometimes twice of youa re far away, to shoot on it. After the mine is "dead" it will start producing butterflies. Then collect more butterflies and build more buildings. And watch out for the humans! Then you can gather up many insects and attack the humans one by one, since they are a lot stronger. The humans are in groups that are connected to one spaceship each, try to kill off one full group and then their spaceship. You shoot the humans in the same way as you shoot the ores. Ones you have killed all the humans and all the spaceships you win, if the humans manage to remove 100 tiles, they win. Good luck!
I had fun playing through this! As someone who also didn't get all the code down that I wanted to, this is quite a good game for a month's work (or if you are me, get burnout for two weeks in the middle of November...). I like the concept of bugs repelling humans from their planet, too! The amount of health bars started getting in the way of everything, and it is sometimes hard to tell when a bug is targeting someone or moving when in crowds, but that doesn't hinder the game very much.
Nice graphics. Controls are a bit tricky using a touchpad and the camera seems to move the play area off screen when the cursor goes too far up wity now way to recover (that I could find).
Looks like an interesting game that would be worth improving.
You should be able to press Z to recenter the camera, we didn't have time to put boundaries on the camera, we submitted the game 6 seconds before the deadline. 😅
Hmm... maybe some explanation is needed. What is this game about?
Added some instructions to the game page.
There seems to be a problem with asset loading on the embedded game on the site, it should work better to play it here: https://bluefireteam.github.io/heeve/
