I find this game super fun. Didn't get very far yet but somehow it is the kind where you want to keep trying. I like how the negative timer pills give the same happy sound when you pick them up, as if to mock you.
haha... now that you mention it I should have picked an "error" type of sound to indicate you messed up. But happy that the same sound works for you!
I guess, a couple hints I could give: try jumping a little bit earlier than you think; my guy has a high jump... didn't have time to fine-tune it more. I also find it helps to adjust his movement while in the air backwards if you don't want your jump to be too long. Similarly, (you may not have reached those places yet), when crouching and you need to step from one moving platform to another, you have to start walking off the platform you're on a little bit sooner, even if you think you might fall; you won't...
Thanks for playing, much appreciated.
This is a fun 2.5D game. I fired up my controller and the game played smoothly for the most part. Some really nice graphics and puzzles. It's good.
Unsure if this is a bug: The game froze on my first life, first level, just as I was about to jump to the left platform (after the -5) and got spiked. When I replayed it again from menu, I was able to replicate the freeze. But then it went away...
I'm super glad the gamepad experience was good. I made it a point to make it versatile like that.
It definitely must have been a bug, what you experienced. I've seen lots of crazy things go wrong when play testing ha ha, but first time I hear of this. And if you're telling me it went away after a couple times, then (hopefully!) it must have been a temporary glitch.
Very appreciative of your time and feedback.
I liked the game! 2d Platformer with 3D world was made well and the puzzles were relatively easy and everything came together nicely! Well done :)
Thank you!!! but easy...? lol They were meant to challenge you ha ha ha.
I'm glad it was fun. Did you beat it... I assume?
Hahah, I mean they were challenging, but mostly the jumping always killed me :D
Indeed I believe I've made it slightly unforgiving with those jumps and the spikes below or above. I wonder if I should be asking for more specific feedback about the jumping... were the distances not ok? I felt my guy jumped too high perhaps? should have I reduced his jump speed/max altitude? If I had to be honest I found that I always have to adjust the guy backwards when I jump because he always overshoots. Anyway, you don't have to answer but was just wondering what it is that people were most concerned with when it came to jumping
It's kind of difficult to avoid and spot hazards on the first level. Movement is a little wonky, especially when you're jumping from platform to platform.
Got it. Thanks for feedback. I am starting to think that the first level was more challenging than necessary, should have eased the players into all the challenges. Also, I'm no artist, so it was very challenging to get the lighting right and the mood that I was going for for the outside area. I wanted a bit of fog, mystery, red menacing mist etc. Maybe it didn't quite work. It does help when you play the game in a darker setting around you though...
Wonkiness when jumping... not sure what that might be. It may have to be game's performance, maybe the way it's done it takes up a lot of unnecessary resources? I will have to improve it. A friend was saying that on a weaker PC it was a bit slow which made it difficult. But I'm assuming you tried it on a decent spec computer if you are a developer yourself!
Thanks again for playing and giving feedback. Much appreciated
