GameMaker Studio 2 Required?

I own both GMS and GMS2. I only have HTML5 exporting though GMS1. Would that be okay to make and upload the game using GMS1 so that I can use HTML5 support?

Thanks!

oops, I wasn't paying attention and deleted my post.
Yeah, it's release date is June 1st, 2000!
It's also incredibly difficult to work with!

I'm actually not sure I should use it, it's actually incredibly difficult to do anything.
I'm probably gonna use 8.1 since it was my first version.

I missed which specific version was being discussed here (or frankly why it was being discussed) but based on your date I'd guess it was either 1.4 or 2.0 and I agree wholeheartedly that those early ones are absolutely impossible to do anything wothwile with

I'd say GM6 is the first really good version (since it had an pretty important overhaul to the view system). It's also unable to have partially-transparent sprites (using GIF instead of PNG for sprites), so it's kinda difficult to do any advanced effects in it...  I probably wouldn't be able to go back any further than GM8.1 these days :P

GM1.4 is far easier and faster to use than 2.x - which is indeed convoluted and takes forever to work with.
