Good job on the game! I love the look.
It's a bit hard though but I enjoyed it. I didn't think it was a "frustrating hard" but just something you want to get better.
Like others said, checkpoints / music would be great additions. I understood you almost didn't make the submission, so huge congrats on your hard work to make it through. Impressive! Was it your 1st game? You don't have anything else on your itch profile.

I worked on multiple games for jams before, but this was the first time making an action game from the ground up in Game Maker for me.
Very nice game, I especially liked destroying the boxes. Maybe add some loot to them in the future? ;) Also wish there were checkpoints and some background music added in. But other than that the game is fun to play!
Cool game! Visuals are simple but engaging, effects and transitions are really good and you bother to make a little tutorial, props!
I got to a boss in the shooter level only to die and learn that there were no lives or checkpoints. Might comeback to this later but it was a little discouraging considering there is no way to speed things up being an autoscroller and all. That section was fun though. Also the tentacle is a cool feature. Are you going to post the unused music anywhere?
Maybe not until the "full" version is released, with all the bugs fixed, all the originally intended features added (including lives and checkpoints), etc.
I was gonna upload a snippet of the music on my Twitter, but it's really stingy with video uploads today. So maybe not this time.
