Gorgeous looking game, the graphics are really nice. I wish I wasn't so bad at bullet hell games! Loved the music and SFX. I got to the boss after a few attempts. The upgrades were also really satisfying to get, and I enjoyed the choice of weapons to use. Solid entry, and nice job on your submission.

Developer

Thank you! Much appreciated

Beautiful all round. Well done.

Developer

Thanks!! I appreciate

Difficult game but a fun challange. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I will revise the difficulty. Lesson learned for next jam :) thank you for playing

Oh, this is excellent! The style, graphics, sound, music, palette, weapons and wave design all work together and enhance one another. I'm impressed by such a coherent and polished game. Well done!

Developer

Thank you, I appreciate:)

I tried... for like 20 minutes at least. I can't beat the boss! This game is brutal, but very well done. Good choice of palette here. I would have liked to see enemies flash or something to help make hitting them feel more impactful (more juicy, you could say). But the execution was great, overall. A very cool game... even if I am not skilled enough to beat it. (I think controller support or a way to remap the shoot controls so I can use left hand for movement would have helped me a lot here). But well done!

Developer

Really good ideas! I will most likely implement all of that :) I’m glad you liked it. I will probably tune down the difficulty in a patch after the jam!

Thank you for playing! Thanks for the feedbacks

Good GOD this game is tough. But it's that type of tough that makes you want to get good; the diagonal bullet pattern is hard to get the knack of but it's such a unique idea that it keeps you interested. Very entertaining schmup, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
I went for diagonal to force the player to use the laser more and reward the player with forward bullets when you get a powerup!  I wasn't sure how people would react to it.

This is a really solid one! Palette and spritework looks amazing, I'm impressed you were able to pull such good shading with 4 colors. Honestly I have no complains with this one (maybe a little too hard for a jam game) cheers!

Developer

Yeah it might be too hard ! I made some last minute changes on some enemy/bullet patterns and it increased the difficulty. I'll know for next game jam.
Thanks for the feedback

I think the graphics are super cool, and the palette looks fantastic.

A truly Gameboy game, congrats!

A classic spaceship bullet-hell with satisfying sounds, good art and a pretty formidable challenge. Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I appreciate the comment :)

Submitted(+1)

Awesome work, a bit too hard for me, I believe it is almost impossible to avoid some bullet attacks, like the ship is bigger than the normal space between bullets. But I liked it in general, great sound effects and graphics.

Developer(+1)

The hitbox of the ship is the cockpit (the lighter part of the ship) so as long as this part doesn't hit a bullet, it won't explode. I'm thinking of reducing it ever more due to feedbacks like yours. I understand it's still pretty tight for the bullet patterns I'm throwing at the player!
Thanks for the feedbacks!
Thank you for playing

Intense! A bit too hard for me, but it’s a solid game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying ! :) and thanks for the comment

I'll release an updated version after the jam with easy/hard modes, so feel free to comeback and check it out

I'm bad at this kind of game so I couldn't even get past the first level, but the gameplay is good and the art style is nicely done!

Developer(+1)

I only made 1 level and 1 boss. So you're probably really close to beat it :)  I decided to increase the difficulty due to how short the game is. Maybe I should have decrease it a little haha!
Thanks for playing, thanks for the feedbacks :)

Great danmaku game!

I haven't beaten it yet but gosh darn I WILL I swear I'm so close

I thought the choice to make the base projectiles split was interesting, really messes with your intuition to fly directly in front of the enemies lol.
I think you did great on the graphics too, not only does it look appealing despite the simplicity, but it's very easy to read which is super important in a game like this, the explosions and whatnot melt into the background and it's always very clear what's an enemy.

I uh, I think I broke it at some point, after I lost once I hit q to try and restart, there was a flash of "pause" and then I got stuck frozen on the main menu unable to start again. Hardly a gameplay breaking bug though!

Developer(+1)

I was able to replicate the bug you talked about. I set a timer after you game over to warp back to the title screen, but you pause the game during that, the timer doesn't stop and warps you to the title screen on a "pause" state. There's no way to unpause from the title screen!
Good catch :)

I was curious to see if people would like the "laser up-front" and "p-shot on the side" combo. At first, I put the shot forward, but then I was like "what's the point of the laser?" It's stronger, yes, but players won't use it.  So thanks for pointing it out!

Thank you for playing and thanks for your feedbacks :)
I will most likely do an update after the jam

Super fun game that is really authentic and hard as nails!

The music and sound effects are top notch and controls are smooth!

The only minor negative I can really say is that I'd prefer the enemies to have some visual feedback towards the player before they take actions ex.: the balls that shoots a 4 shot volley then rush you got me every time, if they blinked or flashed before rushing you, I'd might have had a better chance at avoiding them (or as another valid possibility, I suck at the game :D)

Developer

That's a really good idea and I agree 100%! It can be hard to judge the timing (especially if it's your first few tries and you're still learning the behaviours of the enemies)
Thank you for playing and thanks for your comments, I appreciate!

Very fun game. I actually had a less hard time with the pacifist mode (probably because by the time I unlocked it I've memorized all the enemy patterns already).
At first it did feel a bit weird having no tools for clearing bullets off screen in this type of game (bombs and the like), but it's short and perfectly beatable without any, so that works well.
My right ear unfortunately couldn't enjoy the music as much as my left ear did.

Developer

Oh my! I never tested my sound with headphones so I didn't notice it was only playing on one side.
Thank you for the feedback!
Due to the constraint, I scratched the screen clearing bombs from the pipeline. I will most likely add it in a future version though since it's very useful for this kind of game.
Thanks for playing, I appreciate!

I seriously gotta stop playing these entries, getting too addicted! Love the concept and the design, such a great little game! :)

In my opinion a very nice game. The gameplay is just nice and the graphics are also pretty good!

Developer

Thank you for the review. I appreciate the kind words!

It's incredible! I haven't managed to complete it 100% because I'm quite bad at these games but it's certainly fun, at the beginning I felt clumsy but little by little I got the hang of it. Very good game, I loved the colour palette you chose and the sounds and music are great.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate that you took the time to play a couple of times despite the difficulty :)

Submitted(+1)

Loved the color palette! The gameplay was hard for me, I started to get frustrated until I got the gist of it and started to get good at the game. It's one of those games where it's hard to start but once you get good it's very enjoyable.

The design of the enemies is what I liked the most, beautiful sprites and as a cherry on top the Godot logo looks amazing in this art style!

Developer(+1)

I gotta give credit to Herrwoland for the Godot logo. I thought I put it in the description, but apparently I only put the shoutout in my in-game credits (I corrected that, now it's there!).

Thank you for your feedbacks !
It's a pretty tough game that drew inspiration from multiple hard bullet-hell games that I like. The trick in these games is to learn the patterns since there's not much RNG. Once you nail it, it's super rewarding !

Submitted(+1)

Excellent job, this was a lot of fun. A sort of Dodonpachi inspired shmup with a Game Boy twist. The palette and the art are quite nice, the abstractness reminds me of Zero Ranger.

It's tough as nails, and took quite a few tries to get good at a consistent route. The squid enemies with the circular bullet patterns, the boss phase with extra enemies, and the boss attack that fires in rings were all pretty tough.

After I had the route down, I was able to complete the pacifist run on the first shot. A nice little bonus at the end, though it may be easier than the standard mode as the rate that the health of the boss ticks down is fairly quick. I prefer the modern convention of larger bullets, sometimes the little ones here are hard to track.

I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay and the aesthetics are all on point. I felt a great sense of accomplishment after overcoming the challenge. Really well done!

Developer

Thank you for the nice words, I appreciate! Dodonpachi / Batsugun / Strikers 1945 / Jamestown were all inspirations for sure. I haven't played Zero Ranger yet but I really need too, I've heard a lot of good things about that one!
I will experiment with larger bullets to see how it looks and feels.

Thanks for the feedbacks!
