The style and atmosphere was great!

If this had more polished controls we have Hollowknight 2 here :D

Im not a fan of platformers, especially on jams tbh, so probably my review wont be that much objective, but its still a review.
I like in this game:
1) Style of graphics
2) The way how audio is connected to the world, so there is an atmosphere
But its pretty much it

Would like to expect more mechanics and comfortable movements from platformer, also didnt get the decision to make some of the platforms black and stylized since it is just a simple platforms as others(if I got it correctly, reply pls if its not) and a bit of decision to make black liquid animated as it would cause damage if you were standing next to that animated thing, but anyway, hope that u enjoyed the jam!

Thanks for game!

Thank you for playing and for the feedback! Sorry you didn’t have a good time. Your criticisms are definitely fair, we did consider introducing a different mechanic for the black platforms, but in the end we decided to keep them the same but add them to the later stages to show the “corruption” progressing.

I really liked (what I assume was) the first half of the game. To be honest, I know that it was probably intentional to make the platforms extremely hard to jump onto, but I was stuck on the "level" with the mushrooms hanging down and sending you back to the respawn for about 20 minutes before I gave up. I am really intrigued about the ending, but I just can't for the love of god finish it.

Anyway, amazing graphics and music. Smooth controls (just the platforms were way too lose to each other for my liking). An amazing game, just maybe made for more experience players!:Ddd

Developer

Oh no, sorry you weren’t able to finish the game! It’s not supposed to be extremely hard, but we’re aware that some of the platforms are placed in a way that make it really difficult to make some of the jumps.

Thank you for your kind words, after the voting period we might release a version of the game with the platforming challenges tweaked so they’re not as frustrating.

Didnt expect the voice acting, it was very nice! When it comes to the game mechanic, do not be afraid to “cheat” the collision to be more forgiving, and i would avoid pixel perfect jumps, but i really liked the graphics, it was very charming. Thank you for the game!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!

We do have some things (like coyote time) in our movement code so we are a little forgiving, but you are absolutely right that a fully featured game should have far more polished platforming.

Cool narrative, art and vibes.  The voice acting was the cherry on top. Great game!
