It feels more like a guessing game than a true platformer.  As for the visuals not being scary.  They honestly could be creepy in the right setting so good job there.  To really drive it home I would add distorted music when you die.

Yeah, I know, but the main goal wasn't to be scary or creepy honestly, because this was made in a rush so I was just like RANDOM CRAP GO! and that's how this game was created.

I kind of died every time I played it from non clear reasons. Besides that, you should add support for WASD, because it was really tricky to control with the arrows and the mouse (at least as some really easy step to improve the controls). Congrats for your submission!

Graphics arent that bad just simple evoking an NES feel, The controls are a bit clunky since you walk with the arrow keys and aim with the mouse, it would be okay if you either shot towards were you are looking at or could move with WASD
