How have you used the theme "Strength Lies in Differences" in your game?
Players are encouraged to use a variety of weaponry to make their automaton fighters more effective in battle. This is because when a weapon is used it immediately becomes less powerful for several turns. By choosing a different set of weapons for each automaton, the player is given the challenging task of defeating the enemy as quickly as possible with as many different weapons as they can muster.

Probably the most innovative gameplay-wise when it came to the way you used the theme - lots of teams did a similar thing, but you had a very interesting take on it with a cool and frantic style of gameplay! I liked this very much. :)

I would be tempted to shorten the time for the automatons to reach the enemy just so it wasn't so unforgiving but yeah, really cool game with scope to make more levels!

Wow thank you, such a great comment! It took me more than a day at first to even come up with an idea as I really wanted to go for something with having a variety of options (not easy to do in a jam) and I think I hit on something solid with this.

Appreciate your note on the automatons moving slowly, it can seem like the city is getting obliterated before any bots have reached the enemy so I can make them move faster for sure. Thanks for playing and for your feedback!

A solid little game. I would have liked a bit of info regarding the pieces even if it was just a silly name to help recognise them. But it did not get in the way of saving the city. It worked well and was a good game loop. Well done.

Developer

I agree with you on providing more info. I'd had an idea towards the end of the jam to have a little counter next to the bot screen that tells you how powerful it is and so it's up to you to change it's weapons based on that figure but I had left it far too late to implement properly. Glad you enjoyed playing it and thanks for giving feedback.

I guess using your memory is part of the gameplay, but having the ability to see what robots have been deployed already could be quite convenient to keep track of them, as sometimes it could get a bit overwhelming. Nice art and UI!

Developer (1 edit)

Memorising weapons used was my initial idea on making it challenging but I agree entirely about giving the player more feedback on bots already deployed. I intend to put something in for the player to track this kind of thing. Thanks for the great feedback!

Nice work, the UI and overall look of the gameplay is well done. I like selecting the different weapons and armor to see how it looks on the robot and then deploying them. Lot's of potential to expand if you planned to after the jam! Like a random monster generator that has particular weaknesses to specific weapons. Good fun.

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! I am thinking of various ways to expand on the idea, if only slightly to make it a more complete jam experience. Random monsters is a good shout as it could add variety and bit a of additional strategy.
