Why map up and down to G and J when you could just map up to the up key and down to the down key? The music was pretty nice, though.

The mapping was inspired by the theme. We wanted to avoid using the regular keys which are used for most of the runners(WASD etc). So we decided to go for G and J(and using mouse to select choices during the game-play) as it might change the feel of a regular runner and also increases the difficulty to remember the keys and pressing them correctly.
