Thanks for the feedback. Those were definitely our two most bothering issues when we submitted.
I like it, I think this only needed some additional polish to make it nicer: sound effects and tuning the speeds of player and its animation, enemy and crack generation to balance it, and or maybe making different levels (maybe it could be added after the jam?). I think the only negative point on my rating is the connection with the jam theme is not that obvious?
Bonus points for the playable character on the menu.
Ah yes, the original mechanic idea would've been more intuitively alined with the theme then what we ended up with. What it is now is really that you can only work in one direction at a time (and putting down the cracks takes time). And that it's a one minute game. Thank you for playing, and for the feedback!

I'm not totally clear how this game meets the theme, but it's a fun little puzzle regardless. Why do we play as a bird? Why do we make cracks in the ground? Why does this stop the egg? Who knows; the theming seems arbitrary and exchangable. Still though; the foundation is solid foundation that could be a pretty good distraction game with a little more time in the oven.
As an aside, you can move the character on the main menu and I really don't feel like that was intended.
Its true that the narrative elements did get mixed up about before we finished. If I could've implemented our original idea, the assets would've made more sense. But late into the process (Sunday!) we had to change things up. The artist made everything himself and we were too happy with their quality, and besides had no time to adjust. That's how these things go I suppose. Thanks for the feedback!
The beauty of game jams! We were lucky this year in that we didn't have any major revisions to make to our project besides having to cut a fourth level late in the jam. We definitely had to cut major features last year though and it was a paaaaain to work around.
