It took me a short while to really get what was happening and how to benefit from the summoning but once I got it, I really enjoyed it. Neat puzzle game! :D

MY TOUGHTS

What i liked:

  • The theme interpretaton is original and cool
  • The gameplay in general
  • The sprites are kinda cool
  • The finals levels are knida tricky (in a good way) and the difficulty curve is really well done
  • All levels are possible, witch means that this game was playtested proprielly
  • The fact that the end screen is playable
  • The fact that you can actually lose (or win with some persistency) the end screen
  • Tha game is really well done

What i don't liked:

  • The art style dosen't feel consistant, despite the cool art
  • No music, at all
  • No tutorial and ambigue controls (I originally tried to move with the mouse)
  • The enemy moves all at tha same time
  • No demon summoning animation
  • The demon meter isn't never explained to the player and visible in levels where the demon never appers and/or when the demon isn't summoned
  • The demon is super predictable in his action, makin him not feeling so "Out Of Control"
  • The demons also makes 2 moves in his turn making him feel a little bit unfair (but this is intended so it dosen't count)
  • The level "too many enemys" uses a mechanic never explained to the player (i don't want to spoil it for the people that want to play the game, so 'll write it in code: K+D=no D)
  • The mechanics in general are never reused, or reused few many times
  • If you run against a wall, or an enemy against the wall, you waste a move
  • The game is short (but sweet)

Bugs finded:

  • (B-0001) No bugs finded: this was just to make you're spine cold for a few seconds... Good job, programmer(s)...

What i want to see implemented:

  • A menù selection
  • Art consistency
  • Mouse controls, with some UI buttons to retry and skip
  • Some different and/or ranged normal enemys, and maybe a different type of demons

...And that's it!!! Anyway, i know that it doesn't seem like it, at least from this comment, but i really liked your game, i think you did a pretty good job with it!!! 👍

(btw if you didn't let me known in the description know a never had noticed the similiarity to helltaker, and still i don't think they are too similar...)

Wow, thanks a lot for such good load of valuable feedbacks. Really agree with all the points you made, and especially for the 'predictable demon' part. I was thinking about adding a few mechanics to the demon but there is a deadline... I could think of something like it can gain steps by destroying a corpse, summon another demon, or throw the axe in the final moment.

I think it's a decent turn based puzzler, and the game makes you think about positioning, which is nice.

The demon mechanic is a neat idea for a puzzle game, good job!

I had fun playing it good job (I got to the end yay :v)

Developer

wow i'm so glad now. there are a good amount of well-polished game and yet someone take the time to finish my semi-finished game. Thanks a lot!

Awesome!! this is addictive and fun to play. Good job

Awesome game! This mechanic of having the demon is one of the most fun mechanics I've seen so far in the jam. The puzzles posed an interesting challenge. In saying this I did struggle to figure out the controls/mechanics. This info would be nice to have somewhere like on the page or in the game. Over all great game :D.

Cool concept and fun puzzles.

Took me awhile to figure out how the game works, and I'd recommend putting that information down in the description, because after I figured out how everything works, this was a really fun puzzle game! I love how the only way to beat most levels is by summoning something that doesn't care if it's killing your enemies or you. I would have liked to see more polish on the art, but that's just part of how game jams go sometimes

Developer

Will do, thanks! and i regret so much of not introducing the demon on the first level...

Submitted(+2)

I honestly think waiting a level to introduce it was the right call; gives the player a chance to get the controls down before being chased down by a demon

Took me a while to realise it was turn based and things only happened when I input - neat little puzzle game, simple controls, but it took a while to realise that bones on circles summon demons only when you get to an altar, that the demon is aggressive to the player and that the counter in the bottom right shows his duration - as well as that he takes two turns when you take one! Also, the sprites often got off-center to the tiles, which was a bit confusing. Also, sometimes after restarting a level it restarted a second time after a few seconds randomly.

Still, neat little puzzle game about how to get a demon out of your control to work for you! Presentation is quite neat, and I feel it adheres to the theme very well. Well done!

Developer

I really should have make some introductions. That's my biggest regret in this jam...

Hope people can get the whole 'summon' mechanics all by their own :'-(

Great puzzle game, had to skip one because I couldn’t figure it out. Love the demon mechanic

Developer

I think almost every person will skip the same level. LOL

Seeing where is the line between too easy and too difficult is kinda hard for some reason...

Developer

Yeah, the solution to that "too many" level is so tricky that I forgot the solution already. LOL

Press the '.' (period) key to skip the level, so that everyone can get to play til the end :-)    although it is the second last level

I also could not get passed the "That's Too Many" level- but I like the idea of the game!

ahh couldn't get passed the "too many" level. Fun little puzzler, music woulda been noice.
