How does your game fit the theme?
Every time the player releases a movement key, the input gets rebinded. The player character also spontaneously combusts, an action that the player has no agency over.

I like the idea a lot. In a post-jam world maybe you could strip out the shifting controls, and focus more on the "explode yourself to kill enemies but not grannies" part, because I think that has potential for a nice game.
Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback! :) The post jam version will definitely have some sort of toggle for the rebinding mechanic since we've gotten a lot of feedback on that aspect of the game
Great presentation (as usual). Incorporates the "out of control"-theme very well too! However, I found it pretty damn hard... Which is part of the experience I guess, though I am almost certain I would have enjoyed it more with just the spontaneous combustions but stable WASD-controls. However, that is a common issue with this year's theme I feel: taking control away from the player somehow feels wrong. Overall you did a pretty amazing job - and certainly a better one than me in the art-department. ;D
Edit: Almost forgot: LOVE the fact that you can kick burnt enemies for extra points!!!
Thank you so much for the feedback! The game is definitely on the hard side (Mark himself said to make them "yell with frustration" so I guess we just went with that haha). We also didn't want to completely omit the key rebinding since that is what makes this take on spontaneous combustion a bit more unique. In the post jam version we'll definitely add the "no key rebinding" mode in though, I think it would be fun! :)
nice game but it would be nice if it would be clearer when the keys change
Thank you for the feedback! :) Perhaps a shake of the letter after releasing an input on the respective side of the screen
It looks and feels amazing! the key rebinding is infuriating! very intresting mechanics!
Haha the rebinding really makes you short circuit doesn't it?:p Thanks for playing!
Fun game, very original
Thank you!
Honestly, I straight-up loved this one. The presentation is absolutely wonderful and super polished; everything from the feel of the explosion to how the point stars travel to the counter in the top-left really captured the feeling of good "game feel" and felt like a professionally made game. The gameplay was instantly intuitive, and the way each control is on the side of screen that corresponds to that control meant I could immediately tell which control was for which direction, and it was super fun scrambling to get my fingers across the keyboard in time to get away from an innocent old lady before ruining her day. Overall perhaps the best entry in the jam I've played so far, great job!
Ahh thank you! We're very flattered and glad you enjoyed our game!
Fun:
The game is kind of hard to get into, I'm happy it starts out with WASD as it makes starting the game really easy. However, I'd maybe suggest swapping them out bit by bit instead of all at once.
At the beginning it also wasn't clear how I got score, but I found out by accident when I exploded an enemy, no idea if that's on purpose or not. The fun of the game is found in the idea of it instead of the execution as it isn't as pressuring to find the right keys, at least at the beginning.
Originality:
Ok, so I've not seen anything like this, specifically. I've seen people swap controls, and others some some funky stuff with the screen but this mind twister of a game is very very original.
Presentation:
I. Love. The. Art. (And music, good stuff)
Overall:
Hmm? oh sorry, I was too busy trying combWASDion again.
P.S. I love the pun.
Thank you so much for the feedback! The idea of initially swapping only some keys and then later unlocking all of them as you gain points is a great idea! Definitely something to consider in the post-jam version :)
