Super cool game. I love the idea of hijacking enemies in a shooter game (Enemy Mind comes to mind) since it means you care more about each enemies bullet pattern. The first few bosses feel like its fine to just stick your hijacked fish on their hitbox, but once I got to the starfish I started thinking more about what distance I wanted to hook from and what angle I wanted to hook at. I see a lot of potential here!

Glad you enjoyed it! When I was playtesting I realized you could just shove the fish in the boss and kill it really fast, so I added some invincibility frames as a temp solution. But for sure it needs some sort of balancing, like the boss needs to do damage to captured fish inside of it or something!

Wow well done! It looked, sounded, and felt great.  I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing exactly, I think I was damaging the first boss but some indication of doing the right thing would help, but well done on the work, idea, and mechanics!

Thank you! I purposely didn't put a health bar on the bosses to keep it like Touhou, but I really should have set some time aside to make a tutorial level. I agree that it's hard to get the hang of.

I can't believe you created both that good art and audio in only 48 hours. Overall it's not bad! 7/10

Thanks for playing!

when I downloaded a fishing game I did not expect a weird anime Kaiju fighting shmup, but I dig it. the gameplay is good but a bit buggy, but oh my god the art! this is incredible pixel art, especially the playable character, I am really impressed that you made this in 48 hours.

Hey, thanks so much! I worked really hard to get the bullet hell vibes to work with the fish, and my friend worked really hard on all the sprites and animation. If you have time, can you elaborate on the bugs you found?

This isn't actually a bug I don't think, upon replay. when you hook a fish and run the electricity across the boss it will jolt every few seconds. On first playthough I couldn't tell that the electricty was working though, cause there is nothing to indicate it, so I thought that it was bugging out and only sporatically damaging the boss. It's a little thing, but maybe a boss health bar, or an effect when there is the electricity over the boss, would make it feel more visceral and make it easier to understand. But thats just a little thing and the game is otherwise excellent. 10/10
