I do enjoy charge jumps but it does slow the proceedings down a bit and the level design is too punishing. Still the little avatars are very cute. Good try, keep at it.
Very difficult and unforgiving, too much so though. Like the other comment said, some checkpoints here and there would've helped rather than having to start from the beginning every time you fail. I think a sound for the jump charging would've helped, as well as a slight amount of maneuverability while in the air to give some room for error. And like you said, I don't really see a connection to the theme. You could make this game work with some refining though!
Mechanics are a little frustrating, maybe add a checkpoint system when you reach the signs!
