How does your game fit the theme?
At the end of each stage the role of your units gets reversed as the opponent copies your strategies and uses your cards against you in the following round. Additionally, cards have two roles, an offensive one and a defensive one, that you have to choose between when playing the card.

Very cool concept, I like the card system and there's quite a decent amount of variance for the short time period! The dialogue is also quite good.

Developer

Thanks! We were happy with how much we could fit in in just the 48 hours! Being able to mix and match the cards really helped with adding variance to the decisions, which we liked a lot. Glad the dialogue struck a good chord as well!

Really enjoyed playing it, played through until the end! So far one of my favourite entries I have played!

Thanks so much!

Very nice game, the tutorial is great and I appreciate the story; I ended up making the game crash on the second level (on the web version) but it was fun enough to make me play it again 👍

Developer(+1)

Thanks! This is the first time I ever tried to make a true tutorial, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Exciting and unpredictable gameplay! Would love to see more variations in the future.

Thanks! I had a lot more ideas for cards that due to time (and my lack of art skills) we couldn't implement before the deadline. Definitely an area we can expand on.

Great game, I didnt notice the opponent copying my strategies but i guess thats because i was focusing on my own. I found it very fun and I liked the choice between playing the card offensively or defensively

Thanks! It isn't heavily pointed out in the game, but it's an extra layer of strategy to pay attention to once you figure it out. After the voting period, we'll probably go back and clean up some parts of the game including making it a bit more obvious that that's what's happening. The offense vs defense decision is my personal favorite part of the game, glad you liked it!

This actually kept me the longest from the jam's games I played so far. I liked the strategy setting, although I didn't really notice that it was my own last cards & moves - guess that's hard to notice. But it worked out well for balancing as I felt like it got harder :D I played 3 rounds.

Is it actually doing exactly the same moves and cards I played the last round? If so, what do you do if the next round continues longer than the previous one?

Developer

There were many times during testing that we accidentally rolled over ourselves in the second stage by playing too aggressively in the tutorial stage, so we're happy that playing against a copy of yourself provides a unique difficulty curve.

In the current build the moves are all one to one, so if the round continues longer then it won't have any moves to pull from. Because of this we've found that focusing on surviving early by playing a lot of cards in their defensive form allows you to roll over the opponent once they stop playing units. After the voting period, we'll probably cycle back to this and give the whole game a balance pass.

Developer

Yeah we didn't have a lot of time to aggressively playtest/balance the cards, so I went with my gut. There's certainly power scaling, even I haven't been able to beat all 5 rounds of the game.
