The UI needs to be improved on to indicate when I'm in player mode or still in builder mode. For example, one of the buttons could appear to stay pressed to indicate so.

Very cool design! Fits the theme well. The player can change the role to "player" and reverse the role back to "level editor". (well the interpretation differs from ppl to ppl I guess)
Though the aesthetic department needs some work, I think this is a great starting point!

This game has an amazing concept but it was very difficult to see the spike so I think that you should keep that in mind for your next game but other than that, it is amazing.
