Kind of hilarious. Very impressive despite how many bugs and flaws there are.
Overall extremely confusing and difficult to maneuver though.
I started and had absolutely no clue what was happening even after reading the description, after a couple attempts (which required me to refresh my page each time because there was no restart button) I got a vague idea of what I was supposed to do.
I managed to fill as much as I can with buildings and cut a bunch of roads through it only to reach 20% and have my entire browser freeze when the tornado emerged. (this seemed to be a one time thing though)
After a few minutes, it unfroze and I thought it was doing its own thing going off the map until I realized it followed my cursor.
Destroying the city is very fun, I think distilling that enjoyment and focusing on it instead of the building aspect would make this a much better experience, because I don't really feel anything from the building part
I played it a couple more times and still stand by my opinion that the tornado destruction is the best, I think the escape part could be improved if
-Over time more tornadoes emerge
-There's some kind of end goal
-The time you spend alive is a type of score
There's really nothing to gain from having a failstate based on a timer for the building and tornado stage. Also, the tornado can get stuck in the final stage which removes all threat. The timer can go into the negative as well
The building can easily be optimized to both reduce the threat of having to get crammed in multiple buildings and really plan a city with an escape route, and also progress to the final stage as quickly as possible, I ended up making a large rectangle to fill up the 20% as soon as possible and destroy it without straying too far and losing time to get to the driving part and see how fleshed out it all was
Thanks so much for the very detailed feedback! Any bugs and flaws are my own, and do not reflect on my sibling who made the art.
I regret not focusing on the tornado part, which we originally conceived first, and dragging in all the other stuff at my hunch.
The idea was that you had to make roads to make it easier to drive from one end of the map to the other. That idea got scrapped for just a timer – and in the end I ran out of time (haha) to even implement death on out of time for the escape-sequence.
Really cool concept but I felt the 45 seconds to build was a bit too quick I wanted to build a nice city :( otherwise phase 2 just froze my game so I couldn't test it unfortunately.
Hey, sorry ill little complain, took me like 5 minutes to figure out that i have to swap to buildings by clicking empty space , and then in tornado phase my chrome crash :D But i can imagine you´ve put a lot of effort to this game in 48 hours so for that u have my thumbs up. Concept is really great, had similar thought but wouldnt probably pull it off in 48 hours so good job :)
finally a game where I can truly play as that tornado from the sims. Fantastic concept! It looks so accurate to the sims as well, and it's very fun to get to destroy stuff with a tornado. Great job on this! With more polish this could be a really good game to release
