Very cool game! Classic version and innovation of the usual .io games. Congrats!

Cool game! The idea is cool and it's well implemented. The visual style is unique and interesting and it looks decent. It's very satisfying to grow super huge and devour all the bacteria. My biggest point of feedback is that the giant enemy has an oversized hitbox and is very low-resolution for it's size. And the message you get when you're eaten is somewhat misleading which can lead to confusion when you die. But once you figure out it can eat you, it's fun to try avoiding it until you can enact your revenge >:)

Overall, good job!

Thanks man! yeah good point, Will probably change it to have a more elongated cylindrical hit box. The animation didn't really come out as well as I wanted. Appreciate it!

Well, I didn't know what I was doing, so I only survived 6 seconds. Then I read "you were absorbed" so I thought I was supposed to escape, but that led to a void of nothing. So I thought maybe there was something I'm supposed to touch. Found out some things decrease growth and some increased it. Tried decreasing. I was absorbed. Tried increasing, and I was absorbed. Nothing makes sense.

hehe sorry it sounds like you were a bit confused - the instructions were on the game page:

Use WASD to move

Hit smaller entities to grow, and avoid bigger entities (they make you smaller)

Keep moving to avoid the nematode

At 1000% growth, eat the nematode to win

Not too b a hypocrite, because I forgot to put an opening image of the controls in my own game, but I really expect a game to convey the idea within the game, not expect me to read a webpage before downloading.

Developer

Nah, I'm right there with you - I agree they should definitely be in the game. Honestly I was submitting and realized I forgot to put them in, so it was the only option for this submission unfortunately

I thought you were allowed to update your game as long as it wasn't past the deadline. I had to push a hotfix that I only found because I was replaying my game to get screenshots for the game's itch.io page.

Cool game! I think the concept of a petri dish and biology works well with the theme, and the art and the sound is work really well together. The one improvement I can think of is with the nematode. There would be some runs where I would die about 15 seconds into playing due to the nematode instakilling without any warning.. I feel like the nematode should be much slower than it is currently, and there should be some about indicator about the player's proximity to the nematode. But overall, great job!

Developer

Thanks! yeah I agree with the feedback about the nematode, we'd like to implement a sound or some indicator when he's approaching, so its not so much of a 'gotcha' out of nowhere moment
