How does your game fit the theme?
In our game, the player plays as a cat who can change volume. The reason we did this was because changing volume reflects both the theme built to scale, as well as the joke that cats are like liquid and conform to any shape. The name, Archimedes' Cat, references this as well.

I like the comparison between cats and liquids, and having a cat that drastically changes its shape to fit into cracks and stuff is good take on the theme. And the sprites for every form were a good touch! It would be cool to see the cat transform in other ways as well, such as flattening out or slinking into holes. The wall jumping could be a bit unwieldy, but it still felt good to bounce between two walls quickly. With more time, I think this could be a cool action or puzzle platformer, depending on which way you want to lean.
Hey, y'all did a great job! I have fond memories of doing game jams in high school, and I'm always happy to see new people making games!
Alright, you’ve heard of games that mess with your mind, right? But this—this—is something else entirely. It’s called Archimedes' Cat and let me tell you, it’s a maddening stroke of genius that’ll have you purring with delight one moment and screaming into a pillow the next.
You play as a cat. But not just any cat. No, you’re a cat that can change its volume! And I don’t mean just meow louder or softer. No, this feline can literally get bigger or smaller depending on the situation. Sounds simple, right? WRONG. It’s a goddamn puzzle nightmare wrapped in a cute, furry package.
Imagine you’re cruising through a level, feeling all clever because you’ve just figured out how to get your cat to squeeze through some tiny gap. But then BAM! You’re too small to push the button on the other side. So you gotta backtrack, grow larger, but now you’re too big to even fit in the same damn gap you just crawled through. It’s like the developers sat around saying, “How can we mess with players today?”
But you know what? That’s what makes it freakin’ awesome. It’s like they took the concept of thinking outside the box and then threw the box out the window. This game forces you to rethink everything you know about puzzles.
The controls? They’re tight, which is good, because you’ll need every ounce of precision to navigate these levels. The art? Adorable as hell, which only makes it more frustrating when you’re stuck on a level and that cute little cat is just staring at you like, “Come on, genius, figure it out!”
I’m telling you, if you’re the kind of gamer who loves a challenge, this is the game for you. It’s like a Rubik’s Cube on crack—if the Rubik’s Cube were a cat that could change size at will and screw with your brain at every turn.
So yeah, Archimedes' Cat might just drive you up the wall, but in the end, when you finally crack that puzzle that’s been taunting you for hours, you’ll feel like a goddamn genius. And isn’t that what gaming is all about?
If you’re looking for a game that truly stands out, look no further than Archimedes' Cat. From the moment you start, you’re enveloped in a world that redefines what we know about gaming excellence.
Its sheer brilliance is unparalleled—Archimedes' Cat is a shining example of what it means to craft something exceptional.
Every aspect of the game exudes quality, and its impact on our school is nothing short of extraordinary. The acclaim it has received is a testament to its unparalleled quality. The developers have crafted a masterpiece that sets a new standard for greatness, capturing the essence of what makes a game truly remarkable.
The reception and praise for Archimedes' Cat are a reflection of its excellence. It’s a game that commands respect and admiration, and its standing in the gaming world is a clear indication of its unmatched brilliance. In every sense, Archimedes' Cat is a tour de force that simply cannot be overlooked.
Exactly what I want from a game jam game.
It's cute, the story is simple yet interesting, and I LOVE blowing the cat like a balloon!
Cats are indeed liquid .Cool game , nice level design , maybe instead of an automatic slider it would have been better to use a keyboard key or the mouse wheel for changing scale.Keep making games !
