Most of the time the cuts are accurate, but sometimes they don't come, even though you hear it and I thought I hit it. At first I got points, but at some point my score counter stopped at 11.

Developer

Yeah- the cut sfx is split between in and out of the dice; and can be a bit finicky.

You only score when the bits of the dice, from left-to-right, exactly match the number shown behind; then you score that many points :)

Great job! The mechanics are really unique! Small thing, sometimes the scoring wouldn't work (I could just not understand the system enough but here is an example: Game asks for 211 and I have a singular 4 dice. I cut the dice in half, and then cut one half into 2 fourths, yet nothing happens.) Even if that's the case, it's still a really good game!

Developer

Thanks - glad you liked it :D

Something I don’t think I made clear enough was that the dice-bits have to precisely match the number left-to-right. So the slice approach should work, but only if, at any point in time, the slices are [2] [1] [1].

Of course, there might also be a bug - 48 hours isn’t long enough :D

Oh okay! That makes a lot of sense actually!

Honestly, great game. It seems that this mechanic was very difficult to implement

Developer

Thanks- I definitely learnt more than I was expecting about run-time meshing. :|

Wow, you've turned a dice game into almost a math game, which is impressive :D
I'm also really curious on how you can do the slicing effect on Unity.
I love the simplistic art and the music really adds to the chill but frantic vibe of the game.
Congrats on finishing the jam !

Thanks - glad you had fun with it.

For what it’s worth - I do share all the code I can for these jams: https://github.com/thomasmichaelwallace/unity-games/tree/master/slice-and-dice ; although I owe the bulk of the slicing behaviour to this code snippet: https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/146440/reshapable-polygonsprite

Thank you so much ! will definitely make use of these codes to try and improve :D
