The game looks great.  Wasn't really sure on strategy, and didn't get a ton of feedback on whether my actions were working.  Won, anyway, which felt good :)  Looks like you have a great start to something here, and the interface is nice and clean.  I am guessing if you keep going on this and flush it out the gameplay will catch up to the great looking interface.  Thanks for sharing!

Update: When I took land, that had good feedback, the other actions I didn't really know how to use strategically :)

Thanks for reply! Funny thought that i thinked about that. Like to present enemy resources... I'm thinking of continuation with work on it while I want.) The game is quite simple for now and I think of how to stabalize that.)))

I also quite liked the palette :) Regarding the game play, I didn't quite get what was happening, I just won by passing my turn and conquering states whenever I had enough troops.

Developer

Thank you for reply!) Sorry to say that, but palette was https://lospec.com/palette-list/pollen8 )) Yeah, I'm thinking about conquering just nearby state. Just don't know how to do it yet.)

I needed a bit of trial and error before figuring out the rules, but that was kinda part of the fun. Maybe the action's names and and their effect should be more dissociated (by using different font size for example).

The game has an interesting balance, each resource being useful for something. Although it's a bit easy (maybe because of the AI). While I'm not usually fond of strategy games, I enjoyed this one for its minimalism, and the fact that it could work as a board game! :)

Developer

Wow, thanks for reply! I still want to create fast-pased minimalistic strategy game. The tutorial part is a problem, yeah. There was so much to be done, like sound and proper art and menu. I think of doing something with it after jam ends. And of cource - open source.))

Fun! I enjoyed it quite a bit. The graphics were simple, but went really well together. I liked the soft color choices. The game was very responsive, that is for sure. A tutorial would have been really useful. I didn't know any of the buttons or that I could click other colors at first. All in all I enjoyed it. Even if the mechanics as they are, are not very balanced. It's a great start to a fun idea. ^^

Developer

Thanks for reply! I knew it will be a game design disaster, just wanna do something systematic and hard. Hasn't time for tutorial and stuff... XD I'll get back too it after jam, open code and stuff.)) It's so cringy inside!

Nice and different from all other submissions I have seen so far! Could have used a bit of a tutorial, at least tell us which color is me and which one the enemy :-)

The fact that you can just attack territories that you don't border with makes it perhaps a bit too short.

Developer

Thanks for the reply! I know about tutorial, but I had no time even for AI. About colors, green - is player, red - is enemy. I saw your comment about color blindness and now think that could add an unic texture for player and enemy. Idk if anyone will play it later, but i think i add it to a list of addings after jam.

About attacking territories - yeah, it was one of the things that was cut out from the project.)

Fun little game, even though it felt very easy and some actions felt pretty much pointless. Like the Attack Military action : Lose 1 Troop to Kill 1 Troop.   Since the enemy has like Infinite Troops (From what it seemed - I had captured are lands but one land that was creating spies, yet I kept being able to steal Troops from the opponent all the time using the Spies Action.)
Also Defend: Felt somehow pointless.

Developer

Thanks for reply! Enemy starts with the same amount of resources as you (troops and everything), and get them by the lands that he has. Now I think that enemy resources must be shown too.) And, lol, you've got a bug about stealing troops, thanks for the detecting, i'll fix it.))
