Fun little game, liked the retro graphics and swear those objects were things from Atari games... probably just dismembering to fit the blocky graphics.

The controls were a little strange at first and felt a little unresponsive - sometimes clicking the keyboard would work somethings needed to hold down the key.

High score reached was 251 and probably could beat it - agree with others on ramping up the difficulty earlier would help and prevent the hide on the side shift only when needed strategy.

But overall nice submission - keep it up

Developer

Thanks for trying my game. I also experienced unresponsive controls. Probably because I have used _unhandled_input to handle input in this  jam usually i handle input within physics process. Thought _unhandled_input was much cleaner. Turns out its less responsive. Thanks for the feedback about difficulty.

Satisfying little game! I like the little game over jingle!

Thanks for trying my game.

Agreed with other comments that the difficulty could ramp up sooner. The retro brick look as on point. The in game buttons work but would prefer keyboard controls still. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks for trying, It does support keyboard though both A D and Arrow key left and right.

Thanks for the response. I had to go back and try it and I did miss it! I realized I was trying to turn in another direction while the snake was still repositioning for the last movement. That is why I didn't think it worked. My mistake!

I like the retro aesthetic and the gameplay. The reset time was a bit rough though.

Developer

Thanks for trying. Agreed the reset time could be made shorter.

Neat interpretation of a snake/tetris hybrid game!  The movement took a bit getting used to because the turn location of the snake changed location when compared with all other blocked on the screen (Obstacles and Sides), so it was a bit unpredictable at  first, but once I realized that quirk I could plan around it.

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game. yes the snake turns are bit quirky. But i couldn't  find a way to mitigate that.

This is a great idea for a game, I would however make either the speed increase faster or have bigger/more complicated obstacles because right now I had to wait quite a while before it actually got challenging in my opinion

Developer

Thanks for playing my game. True the game is too easy in the beginning but decided to err in the direction of too easy instead of too hard from previous jam experience.

yeah that is a fair point, the difficulty of my entry is shooting my players in the foot :P
