Incredible polish on this overall, especially as a jam entry! The amount of player feedback, movement, etc is incredible

Thank you for the kind words. There were two of us (I & Sockhousestudios). I have participated in three other jams, and they have an actual solo game shipped on Steam.

Could you suggest any areas of improvement?

Sure thing:

  • An options menu would have been nice to control the volumes of the FX, music, etc
  • Totally subjective, but I didn’t notice the “scoring info” button at first. Moving the UI around a little might help with this - like raising the “poker tower” box slightly and placing some of our buttons under it. Would also clear up some room so we can see more of the background art and keep that as the “play area”
  • I feel like an additional failure condition, like a timer to ascend to the next tower level, could have been interesting. Or possibly taking too long would burn a random card in your deck.

I really enjoyed the wild card - more creative cards like that could have been fun too, but of course, that would add to the scope significantly

I'm actually quite surprised to be saying that this poker game was actually very interesting to play. I love the mechanic that you play form a continuing deck you need to top up.

Thanks! Do you recall which floor you managed to make it to?

5th floor, and missed it by about 10 points
