Thank you! Happy you liked the aesthetics, music, animation and the card-burning effect! Really appreciate the detailed feedback!

If you have any additional feedback to improve the game, we're all ears.

Thanks a lot! Floors 4 -7 are pretty typical for first-time playthroughs.  I’m happy you had fun and enjoyed the chill vibes along the way!

Thanks a ton! Glad you dug the art and controls!

Thrilled to hear that you had fun. Happy to hear the gameplay loop and audio/visual effects were satisfying.

Thanks again, if you have any further feedback please feel free to let us know.

I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed the game and found it polished and smooth.

Your kind words mean a lot—thanks for playing and for the encouraging feedback! If you have further feedback on how to polish it even more, we'd appreciate it if you took the time to let us know.

I'm glad you found the gameplay enjoyable and had no issues with the controls—that's great to hear. We appreciate you taking the time to play and share your thoughts!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the take on the genre, and it’s awesome to hear that the UX stood out to you—your chef's kiss comment made our day! 😊

Thanks again for playing. If you have any suggestions for improving the presentation, we'd appreciate the feedback.

Thank you so much! I’m thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the game, and it’s awesome to know it’s one of your favorites from the jam.

Your feedback means a lot. If you have any areas for improvement please feel free to chime in with them.

Thank you for your honest feedback—I appreciate it. I'm glad you enjoyed the gameplay and liked the clean UI. I hear you on the originality and the thumbnail.

We'll definitely take your comments into consideration for future updates to make things more unique as we prepare to launch on Steam.

Thank you so much for playing. I’m glad you found the game clean and fun.

I appreciate you pointing out the deck-viewing bug—I’ll look into that and work on a fix.

Your input helps make the game better, and we're grateful you took the time to share it! If you have any further feedback please feel free to drop it as a comment.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the vibes and appreciated the pixel art. I really appreciate you pointing out the issue with the blank spaces in your hand—we'll investigate that and I believe it might have to do with how we're sorting.

Appreciate the feedback. Should you have any further feedback on areas of improvement please don't shy away.

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! I'm glad to hear you had fun, and I appreciate you letting me know about the card selection bug. We'll definitely look into that. I'm happy you enjoyed the experience overall!

Further feedback on where we could improve is always welcome. <3

Thank you so much for the kind words and for playing the game! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it, especially as a fan of Balatro. Reaching floor 7 is a solid first run! I’m also glad the vibe and artwork resonated with you. Your feedback means a lot, and I hope you continue to have fun with it!

Additional feedback is always welcome. <3

Thanks! You might have found a bug. Once you beat the 10th level, the victory screen should have shown up.

Loved the mysterious vibe and the question of whether the tower even exists! The sense of madness as you climb adds a great twist to the challenge. I made it to about 560m.

Loved the eerie, survival twist on being a stranded lighthouse keeper! Looks like many possible paths in this game. Great atmosphere!

Loved the idea of building and defending the ball! The block mechanics and cannon fire added a fun challenge. Caught me a bit off guard when the cannon shot a sound round the first time lol.

Like the idea of reclaiming a bug-infested tower! The vertical progression felt great and so did the jump sound. Is it possible to move or target with the shooting?

Loved the concept of fighting through the EVIL INC. tower to save your grandma! Bugs didn’t take away from the fun. Took me a moment to realize I can use the bodies to put over the fire. Great work!

Loved the undersea vibe! Defending a coral tower was a fun and unique take on the theme. Great job!

Really enjoyed the zombie skeletons chasing you down! The tower upgrade system was a great fit for the theme too.

Thanks for playing and the feedback! It’s definitely possible to beat all 10 floors, but it can be tough. Try experimenting with different strategies for the wildcards — you’ve got this!

Thank you for the kind words. There were two of us (I & Sockhousestudios). I have participated in three other jams, and they have an actual solo game shipped on Steam.

Could you suggest any areas of improvement?

Thanks! Do you recall which floor you managed to make it to?

The rat king conquerors all!

Wish this included a wooden boat

Are horses planned to be added?

Thanks! Was there anything that came to mind that could be improved?

I just made a post announcing v2, here.

Thanks!! That should be addressed with my upcoming next game.

I am continuing this game by combining it with a past game jam I did called, The End Always Comes.

If you want, you can follow the development on twitch. My main account, where I am usually very interactive, is Thornityco. My more behind-the-scenes account, which is generally only me working, is Thornityco_irl .

Thanks! I took inspiration from the game I submitted on the Pirate Software game jam, The End Always Comes.

Starting March 1st, I am combining this game and the prior game into a launchable Itch+Steam demo for the end of March.

If you want to join me on this journey and provide more feedback on the new game you can watch on Twitch.

I am planning to continue development in March. I plan to change up the door mechanism, but a part of that will be rarity.

Thanks. I am planning to take another game jam I built n the past and combine with this one.

Considering you had fun with this, would you happen to want to play it in March?

100% Agree.

It is incredibly hard to create a balanced economy, and I've been looking at ways to improve and implement this.

For the attack patterns I plan to continue the game in March and allow for throwing a spear with mouse click to attack within the radius of the orbiting weapon.

Feel free to follow if you want updates.

I replied below with the following that mentioned the theme as well.

Thanks.
I really tried to avoid the obvious uses of the theme.
There were also a lot of subtle uses of the theme that I know many won't realize:
Play on the idiom of: "When one door closes another opens". Finding out what is behind the choices we make with  a door being metaphorical, but in the game represented with a real door. This is why I reveal the, "missed out" items.
The town the player is playing in has enemies spawning from the doors of the building. Which enemy is behind the door that will spawn?  One could say the choose & reveal screen doors are the player also finding out what is behind the door of each house in terms of loot.

I have gotten the 20 reviews on my own game, but if you could check out May Be Ghost who is a Twitch stream and rate instead that would be awesome.

I have all the reviews I need, but the game May Be Ghost needs a hand getting to 20. They're based in the US I believe. I'm from Canada.

My game has hit the threshold for reviews, but a streamer I watch game hasn't.

They streamed the entire development and could not finish the audio in time, but the game has been a blast to play.

Requesting the assistance of our fellow community to pull together. I will help review any games that post here & review their game.

I'm also in the jam, and I know with more time, everyone will have a list of things they'd like to add or wanted to add. I try to provide the listed feedback in a constructive form to highlight different perspectives as a player and to show that I indeed did play the game.

  • I was initially a little confused, given there is the left door on the west side of the room AND the left door on the north side of the room. This could be solved by making the north doors different colours and putting that in the dialogue instead.
  • I was able to get to the boss on the third time. I did not really like that the position of the items moving didn't matter whether it was the same or not.
  • I wish the levels ramped up in difficulty with subtle changes.
  • I wasn't sure what would be considered changed in the room. Like does the carpet change? The walls ever change? etc.
  • Very good use of them and well put together game

A simple yet fun game once I understood what I was doing. I was scared I might run out of tiles or get stuck in a spot going into a corner.

Wish it had a leaderboard to drive people to not want to waste turns.
