Really wanted to love this game, but as you can see from the vid, had issues playing it.
Oh no. I'm sorry you had trouble with the controls!
The trick is releasing the mouse button sooner, while the mouse is moving quickly, to fling the objects with some speed. Our fault for not making that more clear in the tutorial.
You're not alone. Dalton pointed out that the carbon-attractor-gun should have a more limited range, to enforce "flinging" instead of "placing".
Thanks again for playing!
Yeah, I think if there was a movement tutorial before playing like for other mechanics that would have helped. Also, if you and your team plan for a commercial phone release, maybe having one level to show all the mechanics would help.
I've modified the tutorial a bit. I've also added a mouse sensitivity slider.
It took me several attempts to fully understand the controls. As well as the rules actually. Is there a way to save planets? So far my only strategies was to run away from the black hole!
Even so, the game is pretty fun to play! Once I understood how the physics work, movement was pretty fluid, and the game was quite frenetic. I like the visuals, and the light tone of the game. Once I learned how to properly play it, it was a really enjoyable experience!
thanks for your detailed feedback!
currently there is no way to save the planets, no :)
thanks for playing!
Good catch. We probably shouldn't have displayed that particular metric (planets lost) since there's no reasonable way for players to save planets. Or it should have been phrased more positively (You're doing awesome, look how many disasters you survived / avoided!).
Technically, if a planet doesn't go into the black hole, it doesn't count against your "planets lost" score. So an extremely dedicated player could try flinging objects at planets to knock them off course. But that'd be a difficult way to play, because you'd be sacrificing your own safety.
Cool concept, but I do agree that the controls could use a little work/are a little unintuitive. Love the Godot icon as the astronaut!
This game is rad, but I definitely had a hard time with the controls. It was impossible for me using my mouse, I couldn't quite release at the right rate needed to get a good enough kick. However, when I switched to my pen tablet I was able to last longer than 3 seconds. I'd love to try this game on a tablet or phone where I could use my finger. I'm sure that would totally transform the experience here.
Thanks for playing. I kept thinking about touch controls on a tablet. Maybe we'll implement those and release an android version.
We probably should have included mouse-sensitivity options as well. That might be an easy fix.
Agreeing with others, flinging felt too weak. But I had a lot of fun with this one, very creative idea!
Thanks for the feedback.
Great idea but really strange mechanics and flinging didn't work in web. Looks like great game prototype
Thanks for playing!
I think the flinging mechanic gets stuck when the cursor leaves the html5 window.
Knowing that now, in hindsight, I should have launched it straight into fullscreen mode.
I was a bit stuck initially, but the game became pretty fun to play when I realize that as opposed to following the tutorial, it's far easier to just drag things directly onto the enemies, and fling enemies for movement thanks to their large hitboxes.
That's said, I think the coherence of art assets can certainly use some improvement. I also find the music to be a tiny bit needlessly epic.
That's a good strategy!
Thanks for playing and thanks especially for the feedback!
Cool game. Good use of black hole. Flinging can be weird sometimes. Strange but good name.
Worked fine for me on web. I kept trying to feed them to each other without luck! xD
Thanks for playing. There's an "inorganic foes" option which makes the game even harder.
In hindsight, we should have made them part of the main gameplay. Perhaps as a second wave after 1 minute elapsed.
Gave it another go after learning that you can zoom out! Is there an actual ship you can get to and win the game? It's sort of implied in the game over screen.
There will be!
I added the progress indicator after the jam was complete and results were tallied.
Next step is to make the spaceship.
Thanks for playing again!
Flinging just did not work for me in the web version, but worked fine in the download. In case anyone else has trouble with it.
Thanks for playing and thanks for reporting that issue. We‘ll look into it. Probably a browser issue though :/
Thanks again for reporting the issue, and especially for finding and sharing the workaround!
I've added the issue to our github.

It's weird, but really fun. I get the feeling I never quite got the knack of using objects to propel myself, though; I was staying alive for about 70 seconds.
Thank you for the feedback and for playing our game :)
My best time is about 212s, and I've played it a LOT
