Thanks for fixing the Mac build. Solid entry for a first time jam and first game ever. Well done! I agree that the zooming should be a toggle, but maybe you're going for the whole "leap of faith" thing? It's really impressive how much you managed to get into this for a first. Menus, varied controls, split screen co-op...wow!

Thank you so much! And thanks again for the bug report! :D

It was indeed an attempt at creating a weird exploration puzzle like game, with intentional dud platforms and paths that lead nowhere to make you think about the level. That is definitely not be everyone's cup of tea though. But with little time for gameplay development, testing and no time for polish the concept its a bit rough around the edges and that is a great understatement! ;)

I have to give a lot of credit to the Godot community for working so hard on the docs, on Github issues, also a couple of developers that create Godot video's on Youtube and the amazing helpful C# Discord community! I was able to learn so much in a very little amount of time and it sort of all came together when I started again from scratch.

The Mac build isn't working for me. :( http://www.giphy.com/gifs/2Y9ICYFDaf38iMPDj8

Woah that is not supposed to happen. Sorry about that! You could try turning off full-screen? And maybe try to hit R when the camera takes a off. I created a normal resolution build. You could try if that works for you. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Pretty neat pixel art and visual effetcs! Combined with the soundtrack, it gives to the game a really sweet atmosphere.

The controls feel a bit akward, but provide nice sensations when sliding. One thing that surprised me is the presence of "leaps of faith" in the level design. I initially thought that the levels were warping on themselves, but it doesn't seem to be the case. This gives a kind of exploration and experimentation aspect to the game, which, all things considered, is also interesting in its way.

Nice job anyway! Especially if it was in only two days!

Thanks for giving my game a go and the nice comments! You really got the essence of the game and the concept behind it!

I tried to make a game that I would find fun and challenging to play myself. When I play a game the first thing I always do is just experiment and look for the boundaries and try to make it break and glitch. :P

I was really puzzled how you knew about me doing the project in 2 days. I completely forgot that message with, the most stuff was done in the last 2 days, was in there. I guess you made it till the very end of the game congrats! Only thing I used from earlier in the jam was the music.

Nice work, there's some great stuff in here. Really admire the sprite work, it has that old LucasArts/Prince of Persia rotoscoped feel to it, very cool. The controls do feel a little loose, but certainly still very playable.

Developer

Thanks! That is exactly the style that inspired me.

To be honest I started from scratch again with the whole project very late in the jam, I was actually thinking of dropping out but some other Jammers in Discord got me back into it again, but it did leave me with very little time to actually test and focus on building gameplay. I think I got very lucky it all sort of came together as it did. Thanks for checking it out! :)

I really like the art and spooky audio. Controls need some polish, zooming out should probably be a toggle. I've always preferred weightier, deliberate character movement which it feels like you were going for. Sliding is hella cool and if there was more time I think like this would've been a really slick running/exploration game.

Very cool first entry!

Thank you so much for the nice comment! :D

For a frist game, this is really impressive.

I loved the character design and animations. Soundtrack was great too.

The glitching effects and the reversed nameplate gave me some good surreal / realitypunk vibes.

(I couldn't land on some platforms. Was that intentional or a bug?)

Developer

Thank you for the nice response! There are 2 platforms that are known duds, I left them after testing to try and get you to get creative with the path your taking. All levels can be completed in different ways. But its very possible I missed another one in testing which was done like a crazed mad man at 4 or 5AM after pulling an all nighter on it. ;)

Thank you so much for crediting the soundtrack! Its was supposed to weird you out a bit. Its best enjoyed with headphones for the full effect. There is also a title theme in the main menu but its easily missed because it starts on a delay and only when opening the game in a attempt to unsettle the player. I wished for more time during the jam to polish the soundtrack, its all just raw recorded freestyle play.

Liked the sprites and animations (I love pixel art) but I feel the character is a little bit hard to control

Well done!

Developer

Thanks! :)

Hi. I played your game and it's pretty good and also disquieting somehow.

Controls are little unresponsive, making game even harder.

There is also no lose condition. You just fall down for infinite time :O

But sprites for characters are great. I really like them

See you on next game jam!

Developer

Thanks for trying it out and the compliment! If it weirded you out a bit it did its job. :)

It was supposed to be a bit of a more slow paced puzzle game. I personally tested its mostly while using a controller and it felt pretty solid, I'll test the keyboard controls more thorough next project! I'm assuming you played using keyboard.

And I did not want to add a lose condition because levels are more of a puzzle and you gotta reset a few times to figure it out. And leaps of faith help you get a lay of the land. ;)

Till next jam!

I love the sprites you made for this. An infinite runner game would be really fun but I didn't get very far. I can't tell if the levels are procedurally generated but if so it's the same every time and you forgot to seed the RNG. If not it's really hard to tell where to go. Looking forward to whatever you make next!

Thanks for trying my game!

Its just bad level design to be honest. But the idea is that you puzzle your way through the levels, they are not procedurally generated. The path should give you a small hint of where the next platform might be. You can also just take some leaps of faith to figure out the level. Did you use the zoom function? You can also cheat and play co-op and use one of them as pathfinder. ;)

*We talked on Discord* It turned out Aemetta did not know there was a sprint function.
