Are people outside the competition allowed to play our entries before the outcome?

Hi Human,

I hope you are well.

May I please get some clarification about the rating process of entries?

According to the guidelines, we're supposed to rate each of the entries based on the rating queue system, but may I please ask how this is different from the normal rating system that comes with a game's/entry's itch.io page? Does this mean we need to refrain from telling people outside of the competition about the game(s) that we enter into Harold Jam 2022 (in fear of them affecting the rating)?  Or is the rating queue a unique and separate thing that is independent from the normal rating (which also means that I can tell my friends/do the normal release posts etc.)?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Hi Den! The rating system is indpendent of other ratings. I listed the 6 different rating categories on the main page, which will appear when the submission period ends. Check out the results of this game jam to see. . . it has multiple categories and no overall winner): https://itch.io/jam/3rd-hawktober-game-jam/results

It's okay to tell people if you have a submission! Early ratings will not affect the jam ratings. Just make sure they try to rate some games when the jam submission period actually ends.
