Note to future players: Be careful about the mine cart switches! If you press a certain pair in the wrong order you will be soft locked! Be sure to save before each dungeon!

That aside, this is a pretty complete RPG experience. I am impressed.

The gung-ho system helps trivialize most battles and having the best gear further ensures you'll take little to no damage most battles, but I also recognize that I fought most battles and if it weren't for this the battles would have been a SLOG. So I guess it balances out.

Speaking of slogs, having to backtrack through the whole dungeon after defeating the boss was not great. Consider adding some sort of teleport to start mechanic in the future.

It's also cool that there are some secrets if you're willing to look. I didn't have the time to explore fully, but I like that the effort was made.

The maps look good. They are a little on the large side, but nothing too boring or easily lost in. There's a fair bit of detail packed into each area. I like that you figured out how to get an overhead path to work.

I love how the on-map sprites emote, and the battle particle effects look beautiful.

I hope you keep at it with game dev, because you have some good stuff going on here.

Thanks for explaining about the mine cart softlock. because I think that just happened to me. Unfortunately, I do not have any earlier saves, so I will have to replay sometime.

Good game. Got a couple of bugs and typo/grammar errors, but overall it ain't bad. I like how you can combine skills with that gung-ho system, though it does take quite a bit of trial and error to figure out the skill combinations. The story is pretty funny, too. Having to backtrack after clearing a dungeon wasn't fun though, especially with the third dungeon's sliding ice puzzles. At least we can turn off the random encounters in the options, which is very much appreciated.

I enjoyed this at first and like the pacing, but then after spending some time in the second mining part of the dungeon, I started to run away from all battles. Then, in the end, went searching through the whole map and still I can't seem to get to the second boss fight at all T_T So I guess there might be some issue where I'm really unable to progress. Also, when the player first meets Lucius inside the first dungeon, Marsha becomes invisible when walking for a bit. But I enjoyed the experience prior to the mining dungeon. Perhaps if the bugs are fixed, it could be an experience that's enjoyable for me!

Did you miss a switch somewhere? I managed to clear that mining dungeon without any issues...

I went around the map so many times again and again and probably checked all(?) switches multiple times. T_T So I have no idea, but at least I think I got all the switches.

Actually, I have an idea. ^^ I give you my save file and you check for me if I really did miss a switch or not. I just made a .zip of my save file and want to send it to you :D (...I can't seem to message you on Discord without being a friend though, and seems like I cannot add you either without you adding me first. T_T)

I'm at once really impressed and severely disappointed! This game has really surprising polish. Right from the title screen, there are nice touches that show how much effort you put into this. The eventing was really good, with characters gesturing, showing emotions, moving dynamically in scenes, all time consuming things to event in. Combat had some really cool touches as well, with a neat use of the "gung-ho" system. Really nicely scoped it seems also, with a short straightforward tale, but with multiple dungeons of with different personalities.

I'm disappointed because a few glitches led me to get locked out of progress after the 2nd boss (and nearly prevented me from even reaching the 2nd boss). I ended up seeing the post 2nd boss scene twice after being invisible for a while, and then was teleported to the ice boss's room without a chance to fight him. After attempting to backtrack, I was softlocked into staying in the ice dungeon forever.

This is really sad because I can see how much effort was put into this game, and players may totally miss a good chunk, including the conclusion.

I'd also add the random battles are a bit redundant, and should be pared down to maybe 1/5th their amount for a jam game like this. It was dangerously close to the time limit of an hour, and a lot of that was just me running from repetitive battles.

Would love to check out the fixed up version of this some time!

Didn't have a good time here. Not only is the random encounter rate ridiculous, but the combat also didn't really offer anything to warrant not skipping the fights, so I did.

Save to say the first boss in the forest dungeon just went and killed both lucius and marsha in a flurry of attacks.

I did like the little extra animations that are in there, but overall I feel there could've been more effort put into it.

Bugs I encountered:

Typos

Chests are lootable indefinitely, which is surprising considering the quick event creation already gets around not having that problem.

I enjoyed this one. Surprisingly the characters move and feel very animated. Well done. I would have loved to see a more original entry outside of the scope of the Harold Jam someday. Its that well made.
