Interesting proof of concept and nice art, though some do seem to be a bit rough and seem crunched a little, like they've maybe been resized. There's something eerily unsettling about a game with no sound whatsoever, even if a placeholder is used -- it's better than nothing. Cool side-scrolling and interesting premise. Good luck continuing to bring this to life in the future!

I saw the screenshots of the game and I said "Wow, this is gonna be great". Unfortunately the gameplay is too much clunky right now, but I'm sure you'll fix it eventually! The art is amazing, and I think this has a huge potential, but it still needs a lot of work.

I guess I had some problem with the resolution, maybe? Because the visuals were a bit sketchy, I don't know how to explain.

Tried this out a bit, but as others have already mentioned it's too early in development to be enjoyable, so I'll refrain from commenting.

It's a nice start for the graphics (though I'm not sure why they were so crushed, I thought from the screenshots it would be a pixel style?) but I can't speak for the rest of the game. Hope you get to take your time and get it in a better state.

This is visually really impressive. Love the animations for both the character and the enemies. I can see so much love in the aesthetic and visual side of things. I only wish that there was music and sound effects - without them, it can make a game feel really flat, unfortunately. The first area is a little challenging to my tastes - I'd prefer to be eased in a bit more, but nevertheless, once I got to the second area, I found that my computer just couldn't seem to handle the game very well. I hope you spend more time on the game because there's great potential here!!

Thanks for trying, I'll try to fix it, hopefully you'll be willing to play again after the update.

But my summer vacation is coming to an end, and I may be focusing on new projects by then, which I promise will be better than this time.

Hey there hk554422, I got your game for judging so here are some of my thoughts. I haven't played any PGM games before and the art looked great so I was excited to give it a try. Imagine my surprise when I start the game and am unable to jump! It turns out you meant for this to be played only on a controller, and I'm a keyboard-only type of gal. There wasn't a jump button assigned to the keyboard, so I was trapped by the tutorial stairs... That wasn't going to stop me though, so I asked around and tried to find a way to play without a controller.

Unfortunately, once I finally found a workaround so I could play I found out the game lags after that first tutorial area. My computer is pretty powerful so I don't think it was my setup causing the lag, but it made fighting the enemies nigh impossible. Dash no longer worked and all of my attacks were slow and delayed, which made jumping to avoid pits and fighting more than one enemy at a time a challenge. Often an enemy behind the one I was trying to fight would shoot me, so I couldn't really progress in the game before dying. The attacks while on the tutorial map felt good to use, so hopefully if you can figure out what happened with the lag then the game's combat with be more enjoyable.

Overall, this seems like an ambitious project where you may have just run out of time due to the deadline. I hope you do continue this though and improve it so that it can reach its full potential.

Haven't encountered this when testing it myself, and I'm sorry it happened. I'll try to fix it and tweak things for keyboard players, thanks for the heads up.

cool visually, the big sword enemy is awesome. but the second screen my fps slowed right down the player character went invisible and the game crashed. when I retry it just crashes at the first door. I really hope you can add sound and fix this up because its a very cool idea.

I love the character design. Feels like there's a lot of weight especially when I get hit and knocked down by the big sword-wielding robots.

Developer

Thanks, I like characters that use swords,  Glad you like it too.
