Howdy! I tried the game!

What can I say…more like a game in one month it seems…kinda pre-alpha.

The text contains so much errors, I don’t know if you are learning the language or you don’t know English at all. I am Italian for example and I am learning English, so it’s really normal for me to make errors, it’s definitely understandable, however keep it mind this can ruin your game.

For the rest, it’s really basic as a game even if I feel the choices you do will be really impactful. I wanted Yuan Shang to be the absolute worst person ever and he is now lazy…and king :D

Just for this direction, I am sure with properly work, this will be a good game. Keep it up!

Just wanted to drop a comment of encouragement to keep working and learning the engine after giving your game a play! Others have already mentioned the very hard to understand English translation, the bare-bones mapping, and the lack of battle balancing, so I won't go on about them. Keep working with the engine to keep growing and improving!

I tried this out but honestly it's too rough to play in its current state.

As the others have mentioned, the translation is too difficult to understand, and it makes it impossible to enjoy the game properly. The gameplay is not particularly great either so it cannot pull the game up. Mapping, balance, etc do not help, as they are very rough.

As a learning experience I hope you had fun and learned a lot, but I agree with the others that it needs a lot more practice.

Extra point: if you mean to use Romance of the Three Kingdoms lore, I suggest you give the players who are not familiar with that story some context. I have no idea who any of the characters are, and as it was presented, the story did not explain it either.

So, first of all I didn't actually play this, just watched someone try. There was SO MUCH text on black background, up to the point of literally an ENTIRE chapter of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Game design 101, Show don't tell. There was so much missed opportunity to translate an epic tale of war, betrayal and regicide and not even a tiny bit of that came through. The translation was rough, to the point that there was a lot that was not even translated at all, but that could be forgiven if the game was engaging in the slightest. It wasn't.

I really wanted to come into this not being overly harsh, because I believe that all games have the potential to be good, and I hold that true here. You have the bones of your story already told for you, what you need to do is make the characters your own, make them engaging, make them matter. Dynasty Warriors has been a franchise for decades now, everyone knows the basics of who these characters are. Half your work is done, so make your own twist on these classic heroes, and for the love of RNGesus work on your gameplay.

Hey there Taniayes, I got your game for judging so here are some of my thoughts. I wasn't expecting to play a game adapted from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, so I was excited when I started your game. Unfortunately the contest deadline did seem to cause some major issues. With more time I do think you could turn this into an engaging game.

Machine translation is a great way to get the basics of your game into a new language, but at the moment it is challenging to follow the story. There were certain points where I wasn't sure what would be the right dialogue choice because I didn't know what they meant (or they weren't translated to English as all), which took me out of the story. If you keep with this project then I would recommend finding an English-speaking editor to help you get the right emotions and meanings across.

Your maps tended to be on the larger size, to the detriment of the player. I kept getting lost in the bandit cave because of its size, and the fact I was getting attacked every 5 steps didn't help. You could shrink those maps while still keeping the feel of a sprawling cave, if you are new to RPG Maker then I'd recommend spending some time looking at how other people design maps to help yourself improve.

Battles could use some more balancing. Some battles the enemies felt so strong that there was no way I could defeat them, while others had me feeling bad because I was smashing them in one hit after hearing from others that they were very dangerous.  The lack of explanations for each skill added an extra challenge to battles. I used the skills and tried to figure out which would be the best to use, but if they had a description I would have had an easier time. Balancing battles does take a lot of time so I'm sure you tried your best with the time limit, but if you continue this game them please take some extra time to work on the battles.

Overall, it shows that you were racing against the clock to finish before the deadline. But the fact you got a game finished at all is something to be proud of, and if you spend more time on this to fix up the dialogue and balance the battles then this could be an interesting game.

Thank you so much for all your advice! I first planned to make a story game, but then I changed my mind and added simple combat content so it was full of loopholes because of the lack of time. Similarly, translation is using web real time translation and I am sorry for not doing the best. later versions will try to solve these problems.

I can see there's effort, and you are trying to tell a story you are passionate about which I respect. Though I'd recommend you spend more time with the engine away from the time limit of a game jam, just so that you can comfortably improve on your game development craft. You will get there with time. :)

I understand the desire to bring a story that has fascinated you, however it seemed to me a very basic game done carelessly. Have you recently started with the tool? My advice is to try to give yourself more time to learn what you can do and what you can customize with rpg maker before throwing yourself into a limited time project. If you're patient and dedicated, the results will come. :)

Atrocious translation with many untranslated line, horrible mapping, and not even a hint of competent game design (the first enemies you encounter not only take over 5 turns of beating from your party EACH, but heal each other making your progress useless)

Learn before trying again.

Thank you so much for all your advice! The game production is relatively hasty, currently it is a semi-finished product,.The new version is being updated, I'll keep trying!
