  • Theme

Sci-Fi Survival Horror and it works. My type of game.

    Gameplay

Pales in comparison with the rest of the game. The threats adds an interesting twist to the whole fetch quest formula or go from point a to point b but they're hardly a threat. The game becomes boring when the main threat isn't doing any killing.

    Presentation

Very atmospheric, great use of audio. Weird level design here and there (e.g. when going to engine room).

    Engagement

I wanted to like this game but it got boring really fast. The enemies aren’t threatening enough for survival horror and the constant “confusion” from certain aliens was getting annoying.

    Total – 52/80

So the biggest problems I had was the level design. Everything looked similar. Had no idea where I was going. What I was suppose to be looking for. And what to except when I got there. I didn't even know what general direction I was suppose to heading in.  There was one corridor that says at the end 'It was locked.' But there was no door or even a lock door s/f. Another where I entered from the right and appeared at the bottom of a different corridor. One of my pet peeves. Most of the corridor had no purpose for being there. Besides to get me completely lost.  I couldn't even tell if I was running in circles.                                                                                                                                                                                                                  It also started exactly like another RPG Maker game where the main character wakes up in a room with no memory and found the complex he was in surrounded by monsters released by accident.                There was something off with the grammar. Could have used some work English as a second language maybe?                                                                                                                                                                                                 Then I died while running away from a monster that wasn't near me. And it didn't really explain how that worked. I know there was something about being around the confusion monster too long would kill you. But I managed to die in a matter of seconds. Then there was a heartbeat monitor thing. Didn't explain that either. I didn't feel like trying to backtrack so I gave up.

I enjoyed myself for the most part. The multiple back tracks and abrupt end were the biggest sour points for me. Some of the layout vs map was a tad odd too. But I chalked it up to fitting the 'universe'. But it had a great feel/environment all around and some unique enemy interaction. Was neat!

Just played this game - I had to, it is SCP-related!

Aside from the very small resolution window, this game is enjoyable! The SCP-styled memos were a nice touch. It is a bit strange that you run across so many clones of the same samples all throughout the facility though (aren't they supposed to be unique?), but I get that time is a limited commodity for this contest and I am sure choices had to be made.

The different effects of the samples were interesting and clever, especially the confusion/disorientation. Sample 1 is definitely a pain in the butt, but you can actually outrun him if you know where you're going.

With more time and polish, this game could shine brightly. There are many, sooo many opportunities for additional samples with unique effects, to create more tense situations, and make a more complex atmosphere. But thus far, great job!

Yep, SCP is the biggest influence of this game, although we've made some workarounds to accomodate the engine's capabilities and available resources.

About the Samples, actually there are many kind of them but we just stick with several Samples, with Sample01, Sample02 and Sample03 take the prominent appearance in this entry. If you walk your way towards Generator room, you'll meet another Sample which has different form and interactions. Something along the lines, yes.

After all, thanks for sharing your thoughts about this game.

Thrilling. Soo creepy. Much spook.

I hate Sample01.

You'll hate Sample09 more, I can assure
