I love creating games but don't have a ton of experience creating fully finished games. Should I join this game jam even if my entry is likely going to be very simple or are there other jams that might suit my skill level better? I've mainly been using Unreal Engine and have some basic 3d modeling and music creation experience.

You should absolutely give it a shot. The whole point of a game jam like this is not necessarily to win, but to be part of a collaborative community and to learn. I would also recommend trying to find another team member in a skill you want to learn, like coding for example, who you can get help from when you need.

I agree with 18dramos.
You'll only improve by entering and you'll be put in a position where you have to develop a finished game allowing you to practice that skill.

Okay, I think I am going to join and just try to see what I can create!

Well, i'm hesitating about joining, but the thing is i want to participate just to see where i can get with what i know right now.

As they say, if you're really a begginer -so am i at jams- find a team with some guys who don't excel at anything but can do whatever, and at least you'll learn a bit of what you're interested in.

It's my first jam too, and I want to try if I can make a game when I have a deadline, most games I started making weren't finished, so this is my chance.

Same here i start create game but never finished them

Ha ha ! It's my first Jam too and I joined for the exact same reason.
